Move to expel Democrat Eric Swalwell from Congress gains steam

Source: The Guardian

A growing number of Congress members from both parties have called for Eric Swalwell, a Democratic US representative and candidate for California governor, to resign his seat this weekend, following reported allegations of inappropriate behavior, sexual assault and rape.

Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican US representative from Florida, announced on Sunday that she intends to pair her resolution to expel Swalwell with one to expel Gonzales.

“He should step aside,” US representative Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, told Fox News of Swalwell. “What he did is sick and disgusting. There need to be consequences to that.”

Asked whether he would vote to expel Swalwell, Khanna indicated he was open to the idea if it were coupled with purging a similarly abhorrent Republican.

Has Swallwell admitted to, or stipulated that the accusations are true?

This whole thing is moving faster than I can keep up with. Whew!

That's an important difference. Sure I don't want the allegations to be true and Swallwell should suffer the consequences if proven to be true. Which considering the number of accusers I tend to believe his guilt, but I would feel better if Swallwell did the right thing if he did any of it. I don't want another Franken situation, rush to judgement. Swallwell either has to disprove these allegations within 1 week or risk Democrats losing the CA Governor's seat.

50 plus are accusing him. If he did such things he should resign and be prosecuted.

Clinton, Weiner, Spitzer, Wachtler, Cuomo, Jesse Jr., Conyers... It's to our disadvantage but if it doesn't COST then no one will believe that those who have INVESTED in them will yank back the chain when the heat is on. Sadly that's what Swallwell hopes is the last branch on the way down. If I go you all go. We have to let all of OUR GUYS/GALS know that compulsions toward harassment or public theft will not be protected and you will not get too high for us to correct you. Don't ever think you will get too big to fail! Better for you to get help or choose a different job than ruin the name of this party any MORE than it has been ruined! Our voters have to TRUST that we put their well being before our own and you no longer have a free ride to violate that trust.

Abbott rigs special elections beyond belief to assure that AK-guy wins in November. Katie needs to run in a open seat in November.
She's doing a great job campaigning in his huge district.

So far, AK-guy doesn't know the district very well.

If AK-guy becomes the incumbent, then they will do everything in their power to keep him.

Let the stench of Tony carry on until November, so that is what voters remember.

We only expel Democrats? Republicans can be just as vile, and even more so, but we keep them? Not condoning his behavior, but something ain’t right. Seems like the same rules should apply to both sides, but they never do. How about expelling the pedo pres?

We all know what he has done. No denying.
BUT, WE DON'T NEED TO SLIT OUR OWN THROATS!
He's tainted, but he's still a Vote in the House.
He needs to atone to the women he's harmed. He's already Toast.
The life-and-death battle we're waging can't afford the Purity test.
We need to learn from History.
Remember... Our opponents are coming with mayhem. They can't be defeated with Honesty. We know this.
(We also know he's not the only Creep in Congress.)
This is a hard call for all of us. It's all complexity, and we're forced to choose between our Humanity and forfeiting our chance to get past the Republican strangle on our lives.

The women who have come forward are Heroic. All of America owes them our deepest gratitude for exposing their private selves for Justice.
They worked to make better lives for us all. We need to honor their efforts by seeing the fight go on with all the resources we can muster.
Revenge is best served cold.

Before I get jumped on: I do not know all the facts.
Some probably know more than I do.
I'm still learning about this.
Until I am informed of more solid incriminating facts, I would not support expelling him.
I need more
