Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) offered a curious assessment of the Iran war, stating that the U.S. does not need to invade Iran, but that it should seize a key part of the country.
Doing so would presumably mean a military invasion and occupation of Iranian territory.
On Friday night, President Donald Trump announced the U.S. military totally obliterated every military target on Kharg, through which 90% of Irans oil exports pass. The president said the islands oil infrastructure was left intact, but added that if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, he will reconsider this decision.
Some Republicans are beginning to float the idea of destroying or at least damaging the oil facilities on the island to ratchet up pressure on Iran. Others, such as Graham, have floated the idea of seizing Kharg Island.

They are truly insane, foaming-at-the-mouth zombie hoards because all that would do is make the oil prices go even higher since much of Asia gets their oil from there through the strait. It might mean a dream windfall for the oil companies due to the per/bbl price but the CUSTOMERS will revolt - and that includes the entire goods transportation sector as well as the airlines and even boating industry (including cruise lines, as I have seen a number of articles actually highlighting the increase in cruise cancellations - i.e., those cruise ships don't run on coal
One of my former coworkers and her hubby were coasties with a 30ft boat. That boat took 200 gallons of diesel and I was truly shocked to see how there were little "gas stations" right there by the water along the tributaries/rivers where pleasure boats traverse, and can dock to fill up.
