The Trump administration said refunds of tariffs struck down by the US supreme court will take time, according to court documents filed by the Department of Justice.
Businesses including FedEx have lined up to demand reimbursement for US tariffs they have paid but that the court last week deemed were imposed illegally, prompting heavy criticism from Donald Trump.
The justice department did not say it plans to ask the supreme court to rehear the case, despite Trumps comments earlier on Friday.
Claiming that refunds could ultimately cost hundreds of billions of dollars, the president wrote: I am sure that the supreme court did not have this in mind!

(7,318 posts)He urged some of his followers to look on the tariff shelf for how to pay for some things.
He may have thought of the tariff shelf as being in his bedroom or bathroom or any personal space where he stored stolen government documents.
Trump does not think of the tariff billions as being in the US Treasury.
I cheer on FEDEX and Governors Pritzker and Hochul in demanding refunds. We must demand what is ours
If we do not claw back what we paid, the billions in illegal taxes we paid will be used to destroy people, places, and things. People all over the world, places all over the world, and things like peace, security, and the rule of law.

(7,318 posts)Tariff money becomes part of the general fund, is not earmarked, and an be spent for ant purpose allowed under rules for general fund spending.
If you have different information Please let me know.
Definitely refunds will cost us.but businesses do have the right to their refunds which have now been declared illegal..
I think one way t refund all of us affected is to shut down ICE and to repurpose that expense to paying us.refunds.

President Donald Trump lashed out at the Supreme Court again on Friday, questioning whether a "Rehearing or Readjudication" is possible after the justices dealt a devastating blow to his tariff agenda one week ago.

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the ruling could allow for Hundreds of Billions of Dollars to be returned to Countries and Companies that have been ripping off the United States of America for many years."
"And now, according to this Decision, could actually continue to do so, at an even increased level, he argued. I am sure that the Supreme Court did not have this in mind!
It doesnt make sense that Countries and Companies that took advantage of us for decades, receiving Billions and Billions of Dollars that they should not have been allowed to receive, would now be entitled to an undeserved windfall, the likes of which the World has never seen before," Trump added.
The president insisted the high court could not have intended such an outcome and called the decision highly disappointing, to say the least. He then added: Is a Rehearing or Readjudication of this case possible???
