Special Ed Teacher dead after ICE initiates high speed chase

Source: CNN

(CNN) — What was supposed to be a quiet studentless staff planning day for teachers at a Georgia public school turned into a day of mourning when a man fleeing immigration agents crashed a car into a cherished educator’s vehicle.

Linda Davis, a special education teacher in her first year at Herman W. Hesse K-8 School in Savannah, was killed Monday morning on her commute to the school. The driver of the car that hit her, Oscar Vasquez-Lopez, was arrested and charged with first degree homicide, reckless driving, driving without a valid license and failure to obey a traffic control device, according to the Chatham County Police.

The teacher’s death comes as the nation continues to debate the efficacy of the Trump administration’s mass immigration enforcement efforts, which have impacted people of all ages and races through arrests during traffic stops, at protests, workplace sweeps and outside schools.

Is it better that a non-violent "criminal" get away than to chase and risk collateral damage and loss of life? SomewhereInTheMiddle 16 hrs ago #4
I think you meant to say "yes." It's better that a non-violent lawbreaker get away than to risk innocent life. pnwmom 16 hrs ago #5

Ice isn't even police. They have no training and what we have seen some of them are criminals.

I say no YES! [Mistyped and was so informed]

In cases like this the authorities - and I use that term advisedly - should let the suspect go rather than risk causing this sort of death.

Yes, it can be argued that if the suspect had not fled there would not have been a chase and the death would not have occurred. But if ICE had not pursued the death would almost certainly have been avoided as well.

I think there is shared culpability.

And I don't think the capture of one suspect is worth the death of one innocent.

This sucks.

They'll have other opportunities to catch the lawbreaker, but they can't bring a dead person back to life.

All the way from the top down! If/when the Democrats get back in control after November we need to impeach the whole lot of them!

Anything less means they got away with it, as far as I am concerned.

Also, full public disclosure. Face, name, legal info, the whole lot of it.

Put the piranha pool that is social media to good use for a change. See how they like being hounded and hunted 24/7.

Now they are blaming the driver ... but if ICE hadn't been there it wouldn't have happened at all.

A well-loved teacher is gone.

They will continue to act just like they did Jan 6th. These are the worst group of so called human beings on this planet. They are the worst of the worst.
