Danish Politician Accuse Stephen Miller of Having 'Mentality of a Rapist' Towards Greenland in Shocking MS NOW Interview
Source: Yahoo News / MS NOW with Alex Witt
MS NOWs Alex Witt offered an on-air disclaimer after a member of Denmarks parliament made a shocking statement about chief White House aid Stephen Miller having the mentality of a rapist towards Greenland.
Danish MP Rasmus Jarlov spoke with Witt on Saturday about President Donald Trumps continued threats to take over Greenland, which has been firmly under the auspices of Denmark since 1814. Witt played video of Miller arguing for Greenland to become part of the United States before asking for Jarlovs reponse: "... Denmark is a tiny country with a tiny economy and a tiny military. ... To control a territory, you have to be able to defend a territory ..."
In a shocking response to Miller, Jarlov said, I hope hes kept away from young women, because thats the mentality of a rapist. You cant defend yourself, so Im going to take you. Thats basically what hes saying.

Danish MP Rasmus Jarlov is as much a hardliner as Stephen Miller, but here he really nails it.
An international court of justice ruled in 1934 that Denmark, through its established legal situation in Greenland, had exercised its authority over this large island. The court concluded this since national sovereignty does not depend on military armament, warships, and fighter jets - but on laws and treaties.

(15,047 posts)those weird people like miller. I was so pumped up to hear someone using words to tell the truth.
I actually danced around a bit with joy.
I guess Alex had to disclaim some of the language in the reply to miller, a bit.

(1,953 posts)You should actually praise her for letting that remark go on air without getting beeped away.
I am a journalist myself, and if I were in her chair, I would do the same. Otherwise my producer would remind me until I got it done - since the network could get sued...

Miller basically said he can take Greenland against her will, because he can. Seems like a rapist is a very accurate analogy.
Opinion, and truth, are supposed to be allowed, in a free country.
I wouldn't have minded if she had reiterated that standard broadcaster boilerplate that, "the opinions stated are not made on behalf of nor necessarily represent the opinions of this station." Witt went further than that, she said CNN DISAGREED with Jarlov's analogy, no doubt after a producer screamed into her earpiece. I know why she said it, and I don't respect her reasons. It is all about bending at the knee out of fear.

(8,791 posts)controversial statement. Really Alex/MS Now? I've seen you have on MAGA lunatics and GQP officials saying the most absurd and incendiary things and always without a disclaimer. Perhaps we're seeing some people curry favor or at least a less harsh rebuke.

(7,248 posts)MP Jarlov could not puncture the vicious bubble in which Alex Witt is hiding.
Looks like Witt is as unfit for their role, as Miller is for his office.

(111 posts)Without having read or heard Jarlov's remarks, I have taken to calling these aggressives who think they should HAVE something just because they WANT it "pussy-grabbers." It is most certainly accurate. And it also applies to the taking of a Nobel Peace Prize just because he WANTED it. ("Rapist mentality" is the same thing, of course).

(1,953 posts)At the same time Rasmus Jarlov made that nice rape quote, he also attacked this video
The MP claimed that the comedian exaggerated and misinformed about Greenland...

First of all it was comedy. Second of all it is the MP who misrepresents our common history with Greenland: Denmark WAS a colonial power. Our history goes back 1000 years, with Denmark, Norway and Sweden visiting or living in Greenland for hundreds of those years. The newer Danish colonization was really first a thing from the 17th century and on.
So this MP is sharp but not bright!
