Epstein Files Update as Pam Bondi Admits 'Glitches'

Source: Newsweek

Published Jan 16, 2026 at 08:24 AM EST updated Jan 16, 2026 at 08:25 AM EST

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has made "substantial progress" in its review of the documents related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, an effort that has faced "inevitable glitches," Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a letter to two federal judges. In the letter to U.S. District Judges Richard Berman and Paul Engelmeyer, filed on Thursday, Bondi wrote that the department has more than 500 people assigned to the review and make redactions to the files.

The letter did not provide a timeline for when the review may be complete, but said the DOJ "is working to complete this review as expeditiously as possible without compromising victims’ privacy." Newsweek has contacted the DOJ for comment via an message sent through a contact form on its website.

Why It Matters

The Trump administration has faced criticism over its failure to meet the December 19 deadline to release everything it has on Epstein, as was required by the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Administration officials have said the delay is due to the large volume of materials and the need to maintain the anonymity of Epstein’s victims. But the delay in the release has frustrated lawmakers and victims, and prompted calls for investigations and potential penalties against the DOJ and its leadership.

Last week, Representatives Ro Khanna (Dem) and Thomas Massie (GOP), who co-authored the law mandating the document release, asked a judge to special master and independent monitor to oversee the DOJ’s release of its files on Epstein.

absolutely has no idea how anything works. She made an assumption a long time ago that she was born to be the bosshog, but now that she's in the position she finally is intelligent enough to know that her orders border on incompetence and contempt of court. And there is no one in the office she can rely on to learn how to avoid looking like a fool.

Bondi is doing whatever is necessary to protect Trump and does not care if she looks like a fool doing it. She might well know what she is doing.

That would also show proof of progress.
Daily headlines on releases...on no!! That's a first appropriate consequence for not meeting the legal deadline.

Invade Greenland, invade Cuba, declare martial law, insurrection act, bomb Minneapolis, cancel this year's elections, anything to get this out of the news at least until all the republican perpetrators die or kill themselves.

I'm sure the "aw, c'mon. please?" requests being made of the DOJ and the court are being taken most seriously.

Hence the aforementioned lack of consequences.

Epstein was never that important, so that is just a red herring.

And why not release them unredacted? (Rhetorical question, that is.)

Let the names of the guilty and victims shine forth!
Open government, full disclosure, that sort of thing.

This DOJ indicts first, then takes those indicted, turn them upside-down and shakes them until the crimes fall out of their pockets.

AG Blondie knows exactly what she's doing and it's what Mierda47 wants.
