Trump plans nationwide tour to defend his policies as voters revolt over cost of living

President Donald Trump is planning a nationwide tour to defend his economic agenda to voters, amid rising discontent over the cost of living, reported Axios on Thursday.
This comes after a number of election scares for Republicans, including blistering losses around the country in November, and a special election this week that saw Democrats coming within single digits of flipping of Tennessee seat Trump won by 22 points.
"Trump's approval rating has sunk as he has pursued peace deals around the globe and 'narco-terrorists' in the Caribbean, while Americans have become more pessimistic about affording a better life," said the report. "With Republicans in danger of losing control of the House next November, Trump needs to be a lift not a drag in tough districts if the GOP is to defy powerful historic trends and keep its majority."
The president will kick off this campaign with a stop in northeast Pennsylvania next Tuesday. "White House aides see Trump as the Republican Party's best salesman and its best chance to reverse falling poll numbers for both the president and his party," said the report. "Trump is expected to use Tuesday's event to highlight what he's done to help the economy during his second term in office. But aides privately acknowledge that there's more to be done to address cost-of-living concerns and say that on his trip, Trump also will preview upcoming plans."

(6,673 posts)That's what happened to another rePUKE President: Harding. He also was touring to get out of Washington so he couldn't answer about all of the rePUKE scandals going on at the time. One can hope.

(54,428 posts)He can't form a sentence, he doesn't make sense and he is falling asleep constantly. This "tour" will finish him off. If he makes it through two rallies I'd be amazed.
He'll end up talking about his beautiful ballroom and people will get even more pissed off.

(3,432 posts)Even the MAGAs are tired of him. Trump is old news now. How could ANYONE go to his rallies? Hes not a candidate for office. He doesnt give a shit about the Republican Party, really. All he cares about is how it will affect HIM. He wont say, Vote for this or that candidate. It will be all about HIM.
Trumps supporters have already shown that they will not show up to vote in large numbers when he isnt on the ballot. May it continue!

(3,225 posts)The outcome of this barnstorming tour will be:
-- He collapses and dies at the 3d or 4th stop, or,
-- He collapses early in the tour, survives, goes back to DC, Congress invokes the 25th Amendment or,
-- He ends the tour after stops 2 or 3, returns to DC, spends the rest of his term as a blubbering idiot, aides propping him up, or,
-- Someone at one of his stops does not miss.

(17,221 posts)It's been shown that the more Americans see of Trump, the less they like him.
I wonder if McKenzie, the R who beat incumbent D Matt Cartwright in PA-10, will show up. Or if Stacey Garrity, the incumbent R state treasurer, who's running for gov will.

(7,482 posts)Why go on tour to tell people what they see in real life happening, is just in their imagination?
So much more comfortable for him to do that in front of a camera in the White House or Mar-a-lago.
Trump script writers, be imaginative! You will need to be!

He cant even stay awake in a cabinet meeting. They will have to inject him with stimulants, which can make someone speak incoherently. Hmm. It may be hard to tell the difference.
This will be a disaster.
