Former DNC chair Jaime Harrison launches a podcast -- and invites Hunter Biden as an early guest

Former Democratic National Committee chair Jaime Harrison is stepping back into the political arena with a new podcast as he — and his party — look to bounce back from losing the White House last year.

In a wide-ranging conversation with NBC News ahead of the launch of the podcast, Harrison framed himself as unshackled from the "straitjacket" of the sensitivities of leading the national party and argued that one way Democrats can rebuild trust with Americans is by embracing their more authentic selves. "We need more voices that are anchored in the Democratic Party, because some of the podcasts that are out there are more often criticizing the Democratic Party instead of really promoting the assets and the leaders that we have," he said.

The early episodes of “At Our Table” feature interviews with three well-known party leaders: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn. But the roster of Harrison’s first guests also includes Hunter Biden — the son of President Joe Biden whose business dealings, drug addiction and legal woes were part of the political attacks on the former president. The then-president’s decision to pardon his son after he was found guilty on three felony gun charges also drew condemnation across the political spectrum.

Asked why he wanted to interview Biden, who many Democrats saw as a political vulnerability for the then-president and his party, Harrison told NBC News that he wanted to push back on the “caricature” of the ex-president's son. The episode will come out next week.

Anything to get "clicks," maybe a "sponsor," and garner some cred as an "influencer."

It has become prolific across "the manosphere" as people cut the cord from cable and broadcast TV and move to streaming.

After the 2024 election, Democrats were lambasted and insulted about supposedly being "out of touch" and not engaging with "influencers", and/or not being on and/or hosting "podcasts".

The whole "programming" and "viewership" model is changing.

and online bloviators who have dogged him unmercifully and made him into a caricature, I think he wanted to be able to talk, in a "friendly" environment, and perhaps offer some insights on his own trauma, descent into the nightmare of drugs, and efforts to recover.

Remember he was one of 2 surviving children in the car accident that killed his mother and sister (seriously injuring he and his brother). Then later in life, you have his older brother die of brain cancer. I can't help but think how profoundly this impacted him and I expect it got reflected in the life that he thrust himself into (impacting his own children). He was fortunate that his feisty grandmother lived long enough to bolster the support structure for the family when Joe became a Senator (and then remarried) and later became VP.

I doubt he brings any significant political insight to the table. I see him more as a victim and a sad character, someone who was used, but not as a relevant participant of any sort. I feel sorry for him, more than anything else, and I suspect he's just doing this for the money.

His brother Beau was Attorney General of DE (which is an elective office) before he passed away, so if he were still here, he could bring up "politics". But Hunter didn't go that route, instead operating on the periphery as a lobbyist as one of his early occupations. His younger half-sister Ashley didn't really go into politics either but has been involved in political activism.

That's been one of the big ridiculous RW spins here - they kept trying to tie him with "politics" as if he served in his father's administration as some kind of advisor (like Jarvanka), despite his main focus being "business".

This is an announcement of a podcast that has not yet launched. This being the case, we don't think this is LBN material. We do believe this would be a good contribution in either the GD or E&OA forum.
