Former Trump lawyer claims he knows Epstein client list names: 'But I'm bound by confidentiality'

Source: The Independent

Thursday 10 July 2025 23:07 EDT

Attorney Alan Dershowitz said Thursday that he knows the names of those on Jeffrey Epstein’s supposed client list regarding claims of an international sex trafficking ring.

“I know the names of the individuals. I know why they’re being suppressed. I know who’s suppressing them,” he said on The Sean Spicer Show. “But I’m bound by confidentiality from a judge and cases, and I can’t disclose what I know,” he added, claiming that he was once falsely identified.

Epstein, a wealthy and well-connected financier, has long been the subject of conspiracy theories that he kept a secret list of famous and powerful people to whom he trafficked underage girls for sex. Dershowitz is a criminal defense attorney known for representing high-profile clients including Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.

Dershowitz was part of the criminal defense team for Epstein after the disgraced late financier was investigated over claims he had solicited sex from minors on a number of occasions. The attorney had previously become familiar with the financier through a mutual acquaintance.

Allegedly there’s a collection of videos showing Jeffrey Epstein with children, and quite possibly his "clients." Attorney General Pam Bondi asserted that the FBI is reviewing "tens of thousands of videos" of Jeffrey Epstein "with children or child porn."

Dershowitz helped negotiate the plea deal for Epstein in 2008. This plea deal:

The new charges against Epstein placed intense pressure on Acosta, who as a federal prosecutor in Florida in 2007 negotiated a secret deal with lawyers for Epstein that allowed Epstein to avoid serious prison time, protected Epstein’s co-conspirators and hid the existence of the agreement from dozens of alleged victims.

Earlier this year a federal judge ruled the deal illegal. But Acosta mounted an aggressive defense of the plea deal on Wednesday, arguing that the involvement of his office secured a greater penalty for Epstein than state officials otherwise would have managed.

Krischer continued: “If Mr Acosta was truly concerned with the state’s case and felt he had to rescue the matter, he would have moved forward with the 53-page indictment his own office drafted. Instead, Mr Acosta brokered a secret plea deal that resulted in a Non-Prosecution Agreement in violation of the Crime Victim’s Rights Act.”

His assertion also contradicted an investigation by the Miami Herald over the past two years, which documented unusual contacts between Acosta’s office and Epstein’s defense, and quoted participants in the case as saying that Acosta’s office crumbled under pressure from Epstein’s attorneys.

Dershowitz wasn't necessarily accused of doing anything illegal in the plea deal, but he KNEW it was illegal.

doesn't negate the fact that since he knew Epstein personally before being a part of the group that defended him (the younger ones probably doing all the work), that he wouldn't be aware of "the evidence". If he happened to attend any "functions" hosted by Epstein, he would have seen who was there - including those in the circles he runs in.

The list, that if it does exist, surely contains his own name?

Dershowitz has written that he hesitated to defend Epstein because he was an “acquaintance,” Bruck writes. He told the New Yorker reporter that Epstein had misrepresented the allegations against him, telling Dershowitz that “there were only half a dozen accusers who were under the age” and that “they slipped through the cracks—they presented fake I.D.” “When I later learned the extent of this, I was shocked,” he told Bruck.

But one woman, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, says she was trafficked by Epstein to Dershowitz. Giuffre told Bruck that she began visiting Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion in 2000, when she was not quite seventeen. She was expected to have sex with Epstein multiple times a day, she said, and she wrote in court documents that she was “required to be sexually exploited by Defendant’s adult male peers.” That included Dershowitz. Giuffre “asserted that she’d had sex with Dershowitz at least six times, in Epstein’s various residences, on his island, in a car, and on his plane,” Bruck writes.

In 1997, Dershowitz argued against statutory rape laws, saying the age of consent should be 15, Bruck reports. “There must be criminal sanctions against sex with very young children, but it is doubtful whether such sanctions should apply to teenagers above the age of puberty, since voluntary sex is so common in their age group,” he wrote in a Los Angeles Times op-ed.

Dershowitz stands by his argument today, tweeting earlier this week that “if a 16 year old has the constitutional right to have an abortion without state or parental interference, how could she not have the constitutional right to engage in consensual sex?”

He was part of Epstein's legal team when the illegal plea deal was reached which effectively ignored Epstein's history of trafficking and statutory rape. When Epstein was actually arrested and going to be held responsible for his despicable behavior, Dershowitz had no connection to Epstein.
On whether he is currently defending Epstein

No, I have no relationship with him. I haven't seen him in years and I haven't spoken to him in months. Occasionally, his lawyers – his current lawyers – will call to ask me questions about the plea deal. But I have no current legal relationship with him or personal relationship.

It would seem that is when any possible "list" would have come up. In addition, he was released after his initial prison sentence in 2009 (I think) so he had another 10 years to continue his illegal activities until he was arrested again in 2019. Dershowitz was not his lawyer during that time so there is no reason to trust Dershowitz would have ever actually had access to such information.

On the other hand, Dershowitz has such a history of lying and being a scumbag that it is easy to imagine him saying he could "name names" but simply naming people who were his "enemies" while totally protecting his "friends"

Regardless, Dershowitz has no credibility at this point so much so that he would never be called to testify in court by a competent lawyer.

which is what the media and CT purveyors keep trying to push.

I expect, like you see with other "traffickers" and "alleged traffickers" and "abusers" like Ghislaine Maxwell,
P-Diddy, R. Kelly, and others, you have a world of large "exotic parties" that are set up and people come and go. The "whos" attending these functions will include "regulars" and "newbies".

Regardless of Dershowitz's known past, it doesn't negate his having access to the material that was presented as "evidence" nor erases that evidence. He can spin it however he wants but I expect he saw it.

I would never believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Which takes us back to the original point...Why would anyone believe a word he says? He's a known liar and scumbag and would never be called to testify in court because he has zero credibility. His proclamation that he knows who is on the "list" is meaningless because there is no reason to believe he will ever tell the truth.

the "claims he knows" should not garner any doubt that he DOES know (at least some of it - not just from being on the team of lawyers, but just due to even participating in ANYTHING that Epstein hosted). How he spins or lies about who might or might not have been a participant, is a different argument.
