Joni Ernst is the next GOP senator on retirement watch

Source: Politico

Senate Republicans are bracing for another one of their colleagues to possibly call it quits: Joni Ernst. The two-term Iowa senator hasn’t officially announced her plans for 2026, and she’s gone through some of the motions of launching another campaign, including recently hiring someone to manage it and announcing her annual fall fundraiser.

But three people granted anonymity to disclose private discussions said there is rising concern among fellow Senate Republicans that Ernst will retire rather than run for reelection, giving Republicans another seat to defend next fall.

Many will be watching closely for clues next week when Ernst files new campaign fundraising totals. She raised just over $1 million in the first quarter of 2025, a solid but not overwhelming number for an in-cycle senator.

Asked about the senator’s 2026 plans, Ernst spokesperson Palmer Brigham declined to say definitively that she would run again: “Senator Ernst is focused on her work delivering for Iowans in the Senate to make Washington ‘squeal,’ making President Trump’s historic tax cuts permanent through the One Big Beautiful Bill, and advancing a strong NDAA.”

Am guessing that when Ernst doubled and tripled down on the "We are all going die", maybe, just maybe, her constituents weren't too happy. As it is, her IA colleague, ASSley, is a nonagenarian senior Senator that the media just hand waves over when it comes to talking about "age" but will quickly and continually disparage Democrats about their "ages".

She has no fear of the voters. She is a callous bitch with no conscience.

The powers behind project 2025 want to reverse all progressive era policies and the 19th amendment is high on the list. A large percentage of the women in power on the republican party will retire or be primaries out in favor of proper male MAGAt candidates.

That's my not very hot take.

The fact that she wasn't is just another indictment of this country and the way it works.

When you stand up in front of your constituents and tell them you don't feel obligated to do anything to prevent their deaths since it's gonna happen anyway -- that more money in the Wall Street accounts of the richest Americans is more important -- then you need to "self-deport" yourself from any public office. As I've often said, the major distinction between "conservatives" (reactionaries) and liberals is empathy, and people without empathy are unqualified for public service. Of course, they didn't go into politics to help others.

She just showed who she is with the whole "We're all going to die" thing. Even if she runs, I hope she loses like the loser she is.

her work is done. Pukes think they're gonna bankrupt the Federal treasury to the point that anything for the average person will not be passed.

Who knows what inducements were funneled to puke members to get them to sell out the country? In any event, she won't have to worry about resources to, you know, not die for as long as possible, unlike her constituents.

Her state should elect a non-GQPeer to replace her, now that it's blatantly apparent that the party utterly betrayed deluded red don voters and has gone full-on "die, proles", but I'm sure it's unlikely. The pukes will run another bible-spouting fake xtian and the rubes will fall for it, again.
