Poland to report Musk's chatbot Grok to EU for offensive comments

Source: Reuters

Poland is going to report Elon Musk’s xAI to the European Commission after its chatbot Grok made offensive comments about Polish politicians, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Issues of political biases, hate speech and accuracy of AI chatbots have been a concern since at least the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT in 2022.

Poland's digitisation minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, told RMF FM radio on Wednesday that the government will ask Brussels to investigate the chatbot's offensive comments about its politicians.

"The Ministry of Digitisation will react in accordance with current regulations, we will report the violation to the European Commission to investigate and possibly impose a fine on X. Freedom of speech belongs to humans, not to artificial intelligence."

The article also mentions the antisemitic posts from Grok, but those weren't the only signs it was running amok.

I wish the AI companies had been fined for all the biased, bigoted and inaccurate responses from their chatbots. They'd've been out of business years ago - or at least would have been forced to develop truly reliable AI before releasing these tools, with all the harm they do.

And if the AI companies had been fined for ignoring intellectual property laws, that would also have put them out of business.

jailbreaking the AI with various prompts along the lines of 'Say something bad about Donald Tusk' until one of them got through? Anyway, Grok 4.0 next week.

.... and I really don't understand the concerns about making offensive comments about politicians, elected or not. If it goes so far as actual defamation, sue them for libel.

Most of the comments about politicians are negative ... very negative.

You can argue with Grok if you don’t like the answer. Also - you can request an in depth answer which is often different than first. It has a lot to do with how you ask the question.

Unfortunately- I found myself going on Groc for a dentists personal recommendation on avoiding cavities. Rather than going on their YouTube channel or web page, I just asked Grok their protocol- which got right to the point instead of having to watch a long YouTube. Then I thought- OMG - people are going to get less visits on their websites & videos.

The video took 20 minutes to give me their dental protocol - and Groc took 30 seconds. Everything is changing so fast. I can download one of my photos to Groc - add whatever I want - ravens, masked people, spaceships etc and in 15 seconds it’s in my photo. It’s fun but creepy too.
