Trump's border czar defends increasing number of arrests of non-violent migrants: 'We're gonna enforce law'

Source: The Independent

Monday 07 July 2025 20:10 EDT

President Donald Trump’s “border czar” has defended the increasing number of arrests of non-violent migrants, saying “that’s our job.” On Monday, Tom Homan said that although public safety threats were a priority, those who were in the country illegally were “not off the table.” “We’re gonna enforce immigration law,” he said.

Homan’s remarks follow public backlash to the Trump administration’s mass deportation agenda. White House senior advisor Stephen Miller told Fox News last month that Immigration and Customs Enforcement set a goal of a “minimum” of 3,000 arrests a day.

Miller also reportedly told ICE officials to target community hubs, Home Depot parking lots and 7-Eleven convenience stores to find suspects, according to The Wall Street Journal. Homan offered a similar hardline stance on Monday. “National security threats, public safety threats are always the priority,” he told reporters. “But if you’re in the country illegally you’re not off the table. “

“I mean I see people saying we’re arresting non-criminals. Well, they’re in the country illegally, that's our job,” he said. “We told ICE agents in the process of going out looking for the bad guy — and this is the problem with sanctuary cities. When we go to a community to go find the criminal, many times they’re with others. Others that may not be a criminal target, but they’re in the United States illegally they’re coming too. We’re gonna enforce immigration law.”

They're just grabbing brown people. Kidnap and disappear them first, and worry about whether they're here legally or are a US citizen later.

They're just a fucking Gestapo.

During elections, they'll be swarming voting locations to make sure no "illegals" vote. (THEY NEVER DO but these Nazis love to intimidate people trying to vote).

8. They don't care. Stephen Miller set quota of 1 million warm bodies per year.

They are going after the "low hanging fruit" to fill that quota. ICE officers can, at their "discretion," take persons who don't meet the "bad hombre" criteria.

appear in a courthouse? detain and deport
on immigration parole? detain and deport
have a traffic violation? detain and deport
have valid papers on you during an ICE raid? so what

They are arresting people who are in court, actively following the process to be citizens.
Arresting grandmothers and fathers that have been in the US for several decades, often since they were children. So this asshat can fuck off with that nonsense.
Fuck these Geheime Staatspolizei Nazi scum.

The Homan ICE network incriminate themselves by saying and doing just this.

9. Why aren't other countries condemning this?

The U.S condemned human rights violation across the world, but when it comes to our country, nations are silent? putin is cutting us off at the knees. How can civilized nations let this happen without pointing fingers? Or are they, and its just another aspect of current events that won't be aired to the American public?

so they can strategize for the medium term without burning bridges.

They have watched our "check and balance" system for many decades and have seen us go through these types of cycles with administration changes, only to see reversals.

Remember at one time in history we had this -

Chinese Exclusion Act (1882)

Japanese-American Incarceration During World War II

George Takei has spoken many times about that 2nd one because he was caught up in it!

W.E.B. Du Bois, on behalf of the NACCP, had sent a letter to the newly-formed U.N. demanding recognition of human rights for minorities around the world, but most particularly AAs right here in the U.S. who were drowning in SCOTUS-enforced Jim Crow -

(1947) W.E.B. DuBois, “An Appeal to the World : A Statement of Denial of Human Rights to Minorities…”

Those whose communities were directly impacted KNOW this.

But remember that many consider this "identity politics".

who just fed us info all the time.

I know there was that old refrain - "Each one, teach one". There is so much info to be had and the internet has a wealth of it - if you can navigate around all the junk and lies and propaganda.
