Second child reportedly dies of measles in Texas amid growing outbreak
Source: The Guardian
A second child with measles has died in Texas amid a steadily growing outbreak that has infected nearly 500 people in that state alone.
The US health and human services department confirmed the death to NBC late Saturday, though the agency insisted exactly why the child died remained under investigation. On Sunday, a spokesperson for the UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, said that the child had been hospitalized before dying and was receiving treatment for complications of measles which is easily preventable through vaccination.
The family of the child in question had chosen to not get the minor vaccinated against the illness.
Meanwhile, the New York Times described the child as an eight-year-old girl who had died from measles pulmonary failure early on Thursday. The outlet cited records it had obtained.

and into false memes that Republican politicians, Christo Fascists, right wing web sites, RFK Jr.,
right wing media and then onto the MSM, and just mouth breathing dumb fucks has killed an 8
year old little girl in Texas?
Do people know the story of Helen Keller who went deaf and blind because of a childhood disease
such as measles that could have been easily prevented by a vaccination?

(24,193 posts)Even after they killed their own child. Reminds me of the case of the right wing jackass that shot his own daughter through the closet door as she was pranking him. He thought she was an intruder. After the murder, the father was asked if he was going to keep his guns. "We gotta keep are gunsss teh perteck ourselfs."

(8,549 posts)a "innocuous childhood disease" (MAGA asshole neighbor downplaying measles)...now let me tell you what another "innocuous childhood disease (chickenpox)" did to me years before there was a chickenpox vaccine...I was 31 years old, married, two children under 7...my daughter "brought" home chickenpox and passed it to my son and me...my kids recovered quickly..I did not..total hearing loss in one ear, marginal hearing loss in the other ear, severe vertigo, and an inability stand up without falling over..after multiple doctor visits and two hospital stays I recovered my balance but the hearing loss was permanent...a year later I developed shingles...unremitting and unrelenting with returning bouts of vertigo to this day (I'm 76)..
so...until the measles epidemic (and it is an epidemic) kills en masse the unvaccinated children of prominent Trump donors, parents will continue to justify the loss of their unvaccinated children as "God's will" absolving Trump/ RFK, Jr and their own cavalier stupidity of malignant murderous neglect...

(4,631 posts)Prior to this year, there had been only 1 death from measles in the US since 2003. That person was an adult who died in 2015. So 1 death in the past 21 years, and 0 children died. This year we already have 3 deaths including 2 children, and we're barely a quarter of the way through the year.
In 2003 there were 2 deaths, including 1 child.
Prior to 2003, the last previous death was 1993. So in the 31 years prior to this year, there were a grand total of 3 deaths and only 1 child.
This year, as soon as we put an antivax nutcase into the role of HHS Director, we have 3 deaths already, including 2 children. Coincidence?
