The author of a new book says former Vice President Kamala Harris was so taken aback by President Donald Trump's shocking win in November that she could barely speak. As the reality of her defeat set in, Harris repeatedly asked her aides "if they'd actually lost" and whether "they were prepared to do a recount."
Harris's running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, "had the same exact reaction" as he watched from his room at D.C.'s Mayflower Hotel, Amie Parnes, a senior correspondent for The Hill, told TMZ on Friday. "They really thought they were going to win," Parnes said. Parnes--whose book on the matchup, "Fight," was released this week--said Harris was left "without words" at her home in Washington, D.C., when the results came in November 5.
Co-authored with NBC journalist Jonathan Allen, Parnes's book reveals Harris was disappointed by a perceived lack of support from former President Barack Obama and ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "She was really looking for [Obama's] approval this time around, and was really kinda underwhelmed by his support in the very end," Parnes said. "She was really upset by the fact he took several days to get behind her."
"There were some very hurt feelings on her part," Parnes added, noting that both she and her co-author "greatly believe" the Harris-Walz campaign could have sailed to victory had there not been "so many missteps along the way."

She wasn't the only one who thought she was going to win. With her positiveness and his corruption, it would have seemed natural she would win.
But what missteps? It's hard to win when the other side cheats and buys votes.

You would like to hope that now that we're in the 21st century it wouldn't be that way but it is.

(6,524 posts)and they could not even fight one place? Demand one recount? I dont care if they thought it was performative. Be performative- show some spine. People needed that. They still do.
Thank you Corey Booker, thank you AOC and the other fiesty younger members of Congress.
This is why D's lose again and again, they just do not fight. I was convinced that Kamala/Walz were going to win. I thought they were fighters. But then zip- no recounts, nothing.
I remain utterly pissed off because I do not put it past Mump to have done something untoward.

(1,592 posts)I feel the campaigns 107 days were damn flawless. She had millions on the ground, raised a billion bucks in no time - the energy was nuts while trumps rallies were half empty.
After the shock wore off, I realized there was zero recounts or reviews. That was unacceptable.

(47,172 posts)Big rallies are still only a small part of the voters, so they don't necessarily translate into victory. In this case, it appears all that energy was just smoke and mirrors.

(11,625 posts)have figured it out.....How the Republicans corrupted the voting in the Swing States, but the dems don't want to hear it........Any more than they did in 2000, 2004, 2016 or for that matter way back in 1980.........
Either that, or they didn't want a civil war to start the day after the election.......if they protested the votes in the swing states....

(47,172 posts)The campaign did their own polls, and they weren't showing her being ahead, from what has been reported. The loss wouldn't have come as a shock.

(98,313 posts)is so full of s**t it is disgusting, and I sure wouldn't dignify them with the word "journalist".
Their book isn't worth the paper it is written on, and I wouldn't even use it for bird cage liner.
