Source: ABC News
Members of billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency arrived at the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Friday to begin a review of the independent agency's internal systems as part of their governmental cost-cutting efforts, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
When reached for comment, a spokesperson for the Peace Corps told ABC News, "Staff from the Department of Government Efficiency are currently working at Peace Corps headquarters and the agency is supporting their requests."
A White House official also confirmed to ABC News that DOGE was working at the Peace Corps.
Sources told ABC News that Peace Corps staff have been informed that members of the DOGE team will be on site and working through the weekend, and should be granted access to internal systems.

JFK could read and write very well.
And JFK didn't have to pay hookers to have sex with him.

Trump not in the same league at all.

(31,451 posts)Both my parents voted for him (unusual because
my Dad usually voted Republican).
We lived in Dallas. I was 15 when he was assassinated.
My parents were on their way to a Kennedy fundraiser
in Hillsboro when they heard he'd been shot, and they
had to turn around and come home.
One of the saddest days of our lives.
Guess how many tears we'd shed for Trump?

just like the Kennedys.

And their immigrant parents and grandparents had been British subjects before Ireland became a Free State. There was a concern about being proper.
My father was in the military and traveled the world.
But in his mind there was no place on the planet like his beloved Boston.

(31,451 posts)I studied Yeats and found myself fascinated with his
accounts of clairvoyance and other fascinating
experiences. I have had clairvoyance in spades,
and ESP..
I like to think it's tied in with our Druid ancestours.
I spent my high sichool years living in Druid Hills,
a suburb in Dallas.
sometimes I think Druids are running the world
based on so much weirdness I've seen and
experienced.

(67,350 posts)And my brother did as well.
His YDNA testing showed our direct male line is ancient Irish,
the aboriginal tribe on the island, pre Druid, pre Celtic.
There is only a small group of these descendants today.
Most Irish today are the newcomers, my family was throwing
rocks at them as they arrived!
Yes my grandmother talking about the Irish myths,
leprechauns, etc. gave me an appreciation of mythology,
other ways of thinking, etc. My grandmother really believed
all of this. Oh yes I think there is much outside our standard
way of thinking.

Also, Talbot cites Yeats on lamenting the loss
of the ancient Irish customs and belief due
to the new 20th century thinking.
I agree.

But after 40 years of being a therapist I saw and heard things with no

Yes I remember grandma doing all these quaint old fashioned Irish customs and traditions.
The adults shaking their heads, the kids loving it.

(31,451 posts)My Irish family really were funloving. My dad's side
were fun too, but they were Protestant and very
racist.
If it weren't for my mother, I'd probably be a Magat.
My Irish ancestors were the Dore's, from Drumcollagher,
Limerick.
They came here in 1849, and eventually ended up in
Nebraska where my Irish grandmother met my German
grandfather.
The Dores were fun but his side wasn't. And the Dore
women were forces to be reckoned with. One was the
first woman to run for public office in Nebraska.
Me and my sisters take after the Dore sisters. My brothers
take after the boys, who were not so successful and
they all died unnatural deaths. My great grandfather
was an Indian Agent in Oklahoma and was killed by
a drunk Indian, and I'm sure he probably deserved it
because he was basically a jerk. Those girls were great,
though.
Anyway, one of my mom's cousins, Pat McGerr, daughter
of one of the Dore sisters, became a successful mystery
writer and wrote a book called The Seven Deadly Sisters
(my grandmothers' aunts).
I read it a few years ago. It's dated and kind of cheesy,
but it was fun to read it.

(67,350 posts)The Irish in my family were not stern or straight laced.
Work hard, but enjoy life.
Very smart, verbal, educated. Progressive.
Yes the women are independent, successful, strong.
Neat about folks in your family writing books.
ananda
(31,451 posts)My sibllings and I were raised Irish Catholic.
Our mother ruled the roost. My dad converted
when I was about 3, but he was WASP by nature.
As long as my mother was alive, she kept him
halfway sane politically; but after he died, he
remarried a southern bigot and she turned him
to the dark side -- Fox and everything.
Anyway, Irish women are deliberately raised to be
strong, independent, and successful; and thats
because of the British oppression in Ireland, which
made it unsafe to be male -- so the mothers coddled
the boys and kept them close -- ring any bells, because
that's how it was with my mother and grandmother,
and with my sister-in-law who was also raised Irish'
Catholic. My nephew and his wife even life on the same
property as she does, and he's a real mama's boy.
We girls are independent and successful, and my brothers
not so much. Let me just say, that it's a good thing they
have us girls to help them out since our parents are gone.
Funny thing though. I like it this way.
