McConnell and Three Other GOP Senators 'Rock Solid' In Voting Against Trump Tariffs Despite President's Attack, Reports

Source: MEDIAite

Apr 2nd, 2025, 12:06 pm

Sen. Tim Kaine’s (D-VA) move to revoke the emergency declaration giving President Donald Trump powers to place tariffs on Canada has at least four Republican senators’ votes, according to CNN’s Haley Talbot.

“Sen Tim Kaine reveals [Mitch] McConnell is a YES on his tariffs vote expected around 7pm,” Talbot reported on Wednesday, adding:

Kaine said last night at 6p he went up to McConnell and he didn’t even get to the q and McConnell said “I’m with you”

Kaine says rock solid GOP with him are [Susan] Collins, [Lisa] Murkowski, Rand Paul, and McConnell

Talbot also noted the Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) told her CNN colleague Manu Raju that “he doesn’t plan on voting for Kaine’s resolution, but he has ‘some concerns with the trade policies being discussed,’ adding, ‘we need to see what comes out tomorrow and be instructed by that before we take action.’” Kaine would need the support of at least four GOP Senators to pass his resolution.

Just like in his first term. Heads started rolling soon after he was inaugurated the first time. Once the tariffs start biting the economy, look out. Blame everyone except himself.

How many times have we heard this about her in the past? Pressure should be applied to the GOP senators in Iowa. Grassley was wobbling, and their state is going to suffer greatly from the tariffs.

Especially Boozman, since he's from the richest part of the state. It'll probably depend on what the Walmart honchos in Bentonville think.

which is where it is doubtful... ALTHOUGH there seems to be cracks happening there!

The other obvious thing is that it would need to be signed by the President which obviously ain't happening.

I think the exercise is more of a gauge as to whether any of the GOP zombies have come out of their stupor and it looks like a few have.
