Full Headline: Military contractors linked to controversial Blackwater want civilian army and detention camps to run Trumps deportation plans
A group of private military contractors have pitched an army of private citizens to arrest immigrants and camps to detain them, according to a proposal provided to Donald Trump's administration and reviewed by Politico.
The group, which includes former Blackwater founder Erik Prince and former military and law enforcement officials, submitted a 26-page blueprint to Trump advisers before his inauguration, estimating a $25 billion price tag to support the presidents mass deportation operation to swiftly remove 12 million people from the United States by 2026.
Prince was also joined by Bill Mathews, another former chief operating officer at Blackwater, the private military contractor tied to the 2007 massacre of 17 Iraqi civilians, including two children, which also wounded 20 others. The four men convicted of crimes surrounding the killings were pardoned by Trump in 2020.

To keep pace with the Trump deportations, it would require a 600 [percent] increase in activity, the proposal states, Politico reported. It is unlikely that the government could swell its internal ranks to keep pace with this demand
in order to process this enormous number of deportations, the government should enlist outside assistance.

(5,263 posts)evil basks with evil. This is the point at which concentration camps and brown shirts are pulling people willy-nilly off city streets, to "disappear" them all over again. It happened during trump's first term, and it'll be worse under this term. This is frightening, and absolutely should NOT be allowed. We do not have private militaries in this country. We have "militias" (and I don't think even those are appropriate, given what the constitution really says). We have our active duty military, our reserves, and the National Guard. We do not need a privatized army of mercenaries running thru the streets with AK47's. Especially not with the gun laws we have in most states in this country. There WILL be a war at that point... because you won't be able to tell a "private mercenary" from an authorized individual. So, it'll become "shoot them all and let god sort them out." I do not want to live in that kind of wild west mentality.

(13,194 posts)to act as a check on Federal power encroaching on that of a State. This sort of private army may be acceptable to a majority of citizens in Texas but will not be acceptable in California or other blue states.
Pressure needs to be put on governors to build up a defense, and they need to review Federalist Paper No. 46 by James Madison, that goes into detail about a balance being established between the (Federal) military and the (State) militia, although in this case it appears to be an unconstitutional abuse of power by Trump in creating his own private army. An abuse of power that the Supreme Court now says is fine, as long as it is enacted on behalf of the office of the President. This is bullshit!
