Israel identifies body of hostage recovered from Gaza, days after father's remains were found

Source: CNN

The Israeli military said Friday it had identified the body of a hostage recovered from a tunnel in southern Gaza as the son of Yosef Al-Ziyadnah, a hostage whose body was recovered earlier this week.

Hamza Al-Ziyadnah, 23, was found dead in a tunnel in the Rafah area, a joint statement from the Israel Defense Forces and Internal Security Agency, known as Shin Bet, said on Friday.

The Israeli military said Wednesday it had recovered the body of Yousef Al-Ziyadnah, 53, from a tunnel in the Rafah area and had discovered evidence that raised “grave concerns” for his son’s life.

Hamza and his father were kidnapped during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and had been held in the Gaza Strip.

from an inflicted injury or illness/natural causes. That is what kills human beings. I'm approaching the question the way a coroner would. As far as responsibility for deaths goes the IDF and the radical right Israeli government bear responsibility for prisoner deaths and any deaths in Gaza or the West Bank due to lack of medical care/supplies, food, water and shelter. All of those items are requirements by international law for forces to provide civilians. Unless of course you accept the radical right parties in Israel saying there is no such thing as a civilian or innocent Palestinian. I get the strong sense that they use that to justify an "anything goes" approach. I really don't think you mean that.

if he hadn't been kidnapped, chances are he, and all the other dead hostages, would still be alive and Gaza wouldn't be in ruins, so therefore, HAMAs is directly responsible for his death, along with all the other dead hostages.

If you hit someone and they die months later from their injuries, you still committed murder or at least manslaughter.

Same premise. No taking this person as a hostage, they'd still be alive.

But I know Hamas must be protected as they are righteous freedom fighters against EVIL Israel.

"because she married a bad guy" on the death certificate as the cause of death. Questioning whether we know about wounds etc. is not defending Hamas and your implication that I do can be stuck right up your backside. I am critical repeatedly of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Likud etc.

Your implication towards me is BS and is as unwarranted as if someone said you revel in the deaths of Palestinian children. Slow down with your assumptions about why someone is asking a particular question.

No terrorism, no taking of hostages. . .no war. It's that simple. Everything else is putting lipstick on a pig and polishing a turd.

Hamas doesn't care about dead any age Palestinians. Their leadership is safe in Dubai. The Palestinians elected them to run the government. So their government launched an attack that killed 1200 Israelis. Just like the Japanese government launched an attack on 12/7.

Japanese civilians died in WW2 too. You don't want civilians to die, don't start wars. That simple.

Why do people have this problem understanding that?

Hitler started wars and German civilians died. Mussolini started wars and Italian civilians died.

I'm tired of the constant hate Israel crap. THEY WERE FUCKING ATTACKED!!! By an elected government's terrorist actions.

a problem for you but apparently nobody needs to ever think further or inquire beyond whatever your opinion is of anything. You can't possibly think somebody said you revel in people dying. Read the sentence again. Why bother to say it to me when I structured the comparison to clearly show tossing unwarranted implications is incorrect? Nobody is defending Hamas. For the last time give that line of bullshit a rest.

I don't need you to recite to me such nonsense. You seem to want to attack anybody who asks questions and take out your hate and anger. That kind of sickness is what causes soldiers to abuse and torture prisoners and then make rationalizations to excuse it away. The radical right in Israel has taken control and made the conscience of the people more and more reserved only for themselves and no others in the world.

I completely understand your narrative but my question was narrowly drawn and not about the over-arching matter of why. I truly have no idea why it is such a problem for someone to ask a question about whether there are specifics about the manner of death of a hostage. Would you similarly attack someone who asked questions about the specific weapons being used by both sides like caliber/tonnage/range etc. and just say to them "It doesn't matter because none of this would be happening if Hamas had not attacked"? People should be able to ask perfectly reasonable questions about details for a specific event in a conflict without all of the BS attacks. I have made this point clearly over and over but you keep at it with something that has nothing to do with what I'm asking. Just leave it alone.
