Cybertruck Blast Suspect Revealed to Be Active-Duty Green Beret Soldier

Source: Daily Beast

The suspect in the New Year’s Day Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas was an active-duty highly trained Special Operations soldier, according to multiple reports.

The driver who rented the Tesla has been named as 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was said to be married to a social worker and on leave from duty in Germany at the time of the attack. His wife had not heard from him for several days, reported CBS News.

As the FBI and police investigators try to piece together the 8:40 a.m. Wednesday attack that left the driver dead and seven people injured outside the Trump International Hotel, CNN’s John Miller said the man who rented the Cybertruck had 19 years plus of military service and was in Special Forces command.

the vehicle and Denver News (who has broken most of this story) indicate his wife hadn't seen him much lately as she made accusations of "infidelity." So, if the body is him, that also gives rise to questions as to why a Special Forces soldier would go about creating such a crude improvised fireworks-derived explosive--that he certainly would know would not cause a "big explosion" of surrounding buildings (Trump Hotel) IF that was his intent.

A lot of questions...

So perhaps the body is not his or there is missing information.

Even if it was a suicide, it was very messy and dramatic.
And seems beyond chance that a smart, trained military man would
not understand the symbolism of a Tesla blowing up in front of a Trump hotel.

Maybe he was told the trigger mechanism would act like the neuralyzer used in the movie Men in Black. No one would remember seeing him get out of the truck, there would be a short delay, and then all hell would break loose. He would be long gone.
Instead that button locked the doors and lit the fuse. He was highly trained to follow orders. And now he is long gone.

But so far we don't have evidence of any huge life stressors. On the contrary, he was set to be married. Nor have we been told that he left a note or a final communication. So maybe not.

With both of these suspects, I hope technicians are able to perform toxicology tests.

"Authorities were investigating the link as a possible connection between the two New Year's Day attacks, those sources said. There was belief Thursday morning that the two men overlapped but there was not yet evidence that they were assigned together or knew each other, according to an official briefed on the investigation who spoke to ABC News."

"In a Thursday morning press briefing, FBI officials in New Orleans said there was 'no definitive link' between the two events."

That Cybertruck was awfully incompetent car bomb, if that was what was intended, let alone the work of a Special Forces commander. Does not compute.

By picking tRump building and musky vehicle he got noticed.

I'm guessing he wanted to suicide and decide to go out with a bang in more ways than one. Might even be a suicide pact with a military buddy.

Perhaps the seemingly weird, amatuerish bomb materials were because he didn't actually want anyone (else?) hurt. But the juxtaposition of a Tesla and Trump Tower is definitely not by accident.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The highly decorated Army soldier inside the Tesla Cybertruck that burst into flames outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel shot himself in the head before the explosion and likely planned to cause more damage but the explosive was rudimentary and the steel-sided vehicle absorbed much of the force, officials said Thursday.

Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a news conference that a handgun was found at the feet of the man, who officials believe is Matthew Livelsberger. Officials believe the shot was self-inflicted.

Damage from the blast was mostly limited to the interior of the truck. The blast “vented out and up” and didn’t hit the Trump hotel doors just a few feet away, the sheriff said.

“The level of sophistication is not what we would expect from an individual with this type of military experience,” said Kenny Cooper, a special agent in charge for the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

right at the front driver side just before the big explosion in the back.

I didn't look carefully at it frame by frame, but it would track with maybe a firearm setting off the explosion?

He was in the first "class".

You'd be amazed at what they are capable of.
