Twelve people, including two children, have been killed and four others seriously injured in southern Montenegro, authorities have said, in shootings that began in a restaurant and ended when the gunman shot himself in the head.

The victims were killed at five different locations, with the first four in the restaurant, Nastic said. “Each location has been inspected and evidence was taken. Prosecutor and police actions are ongoing to determine the circumstances,” she added.

The police commissioner Lazar Šćepanović said Martinović had spent much of New Year’s Day at the bar and was thought to have been drinking heavily before the shooting. He went home, brought back a weapon and opened fire, Šćepanović said.

The gunman had been given a suspended sentence in 2005 for violent behaviour and had appealed against a more recent conviction for possession of illegal weapons. Local media have said he was known for his violent and erratic behaviour.

2. Still the prime minister's reaction is not very American

He "said authorities would consider tighter firearms laws, including a complete ban".

5. That's not entirely true.

Various (D) members of Congress and governors say the same thing. Biden has, at times (don't know about more recent events).

Montenegrin politics are not American politics, however. But I'm sure both encompass a wide variety of views (I've even known (R) that wanted rather more stringent gun control laws. And people that voted (D) that wanted far less stringent.)

She wanted to get out of the USA's armed madhouse. Left her teenage son behind, too.

Maybe she realizes now that the madhouse is the planet.
