There are no bad suggestions here, and borrowing from clever DUers or anyone who posts elsewhere is fair, right?. Just not too "saucy," because kids will be watching--watching us fight for their future in a democratic America.
Trump's Stolen Valor Birthday Celebration.
Hell, no, he wouldn't go, but he wants a military parade?!?
Birthday Boy Bone Spurs
No thanks for your service, Cadet Bone Spurs (with downloaded pictures of US Vietnam soldiers).
Cut Medicaid, but waste money & ruin D.C. streets to satisfy Cadet Bone Spurs.
Draft Dodgers Don't Deserve a Military Parade.
Call me crazy, but why spend $45 million on a military parade honoring a draft dodger when a single veteran needs healthcare, food, or housing they can afford.
Bone Spur Deferment Battalion
That birthday boy ain't right.
Nothing CULTISH about a military parade for a Draft Dodger, right?
If Trump wants a big parade in his honor, all he has to do is resign.
Happy Birthday to the Ultimate Draft Dodger!
This is the government the Founders warned us about.
Dear World, we hate him too.
Unburdened by honor (with a picture of Trump dressed as military dictator)
This is the part of history that makes school kids ask, "Why didn't anyone do something to stop them?"
Are we great yet, 'cause I just feel embarrassed.
Faux King Joke.
No Faux King way!
Where Law ends Tyranny begins--Fire the Felon
Defend Democracy--No kings, no broligarchs, liberty and justice for all.
King-free since 1776--no kings in America.
No Kings 1776 or 2025--Save the Constitution
No Kings--united against tyranny since 1776.
A Free Country has no Kings.
We the People already did this (picture/drawing of crown with line crossing it out, or red circle with slash)
No one a subject, no one a king.
We have a Constitution, not a king.
A Republic, not a Monarchy
Two paths diverged in the woods, and America chose the Psycopath.
It's not red vs. blue, it's billionaires vs. YOU.
Trump's vanity parade will cost taxpayers $45 million.
Can't we just give him a bag of little green army men and call it good?
If you ever wondered what you'd do during Slavery, the Holocaust, the Civil Rights Movement, you're doing it now.
Health Care not Wealth Care.
We shouldn't have to defend Democracy from the President.
Scotus--uphold the Law. Congress--do your job!
May God help us if the Courts don't.
Only weak leaders have to fire half the government to get their way.
Please, post other suggestions, or statements. Venting allowed.
(Some folks think that the June 14 protests should take place in Washington, D.C. But tRump and his enablers don't care what we think. They'd love an excuse to declare martial law, right? Let's send a loud message to state and local elected officials throughout the country, let them know we're ready to raise hell. Their primary concern is staying in power--we're still allowed to vote. Let's see if they care about getting re-elected. Just my opinion.)

(13,417 posts)Protest anywhere but.

(6,980 posts)Otherwise they are going to think we are a soft bunch of scaredy-cats. Seriously, there is nothing to be afraid of. DC is ground zero in the resistance to this shit, and this is just one more protest in a series of almost daily protests. Just peaceful but loud.
There will be protesters there, the only question is how many. I say more is better, you may disagree.

(2,248 posts)and who knows how they will act. Look at what they did on Jan 6th, going so far as to even call themselves tourists. It could be very dangerous. I had initially thought about going to DC myself, and even put in for a few days off to go. After giving it some thought realized that the organizers mentioned in this thread (Indivisible, 50501, No Kings,,,) are right. Millions of us, spread across the country, carries a much stronger message.

(6,980 posts)It wont even be slightly dangerous. The number of cops will be off the charts. Protest there, be loud but non-violent and everything will be fine. Do not let this go unchallenged!

Not protesting in DC is about the dumbest strategy Ive seen in a long time. We arent going to make Trump go away by ignoring him.

(2,248 posts)What I feel about going to DC, about deciding not to go to DC, has more to do with what I perceive of as the attitudes of Trump supporters, and that includes the agents of the various agencies that are running rampant across the country with apparent immunity in violating our rights. Warrantless detentions, deportations without due process, subcontracted security personnel patrolling and apprehending people off the street without having to display or otherwise produce identification, with faces hidden by masks.
Are you open to discuss these issues?

(6,980 posts)You will only get arrested if you do civil disobedience stuff like blocking traffic etc.
DC is a huge modern city where 99 percent of people are anti Trump.
taxi
(2,248 posts)Nor can we assume that all security measures will involve protesters. We would be remiss in thinking that there will not be many, many other agencies involved. Neither can we ignore that the lines between arrest and detention have become blurred. A round up is a round up, and anyone captured in that round up need not necessarily be subject to arrest, but that person is certainly detained. Current trends have very little regard for the difference. I certainly refuse to accept that I could be taken off the street and locked away for any period of time, with or without due cause. After that, there is no due process. Should I be sent to CECOT or some internment camp who will free me?
Again, this is nothing personal. If you feel that you should be in DC, then by all means go.
