If the president is assassinated, the Vice President immediately assumes the office of President. The new President then nominates a replacement Vice President, who must be confirmed by a majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, under the 25th Amendment.

If he were to choose one to run with, I'd guess a Trump spawn to ensure Donald's support.

But if the Don is gone? No idea.

If the president dies the VP becomes president, and he then nominates a new VP who has to be approved by a majority of both the House and the Senate. The Speaker becomes the president (but never the VP) only if both the current VP and the president are dead or unable to serve, and then he nominates a VP, to be confirmed by the House and the Senate.

that makes him super duper dangerous and he and his comrades are insane and stupid at the same time. US have depleted it's arsenal, oil reserves, US morale is low, and the economy sucks as well as healthcare.

Vance is the same but does not have the conman's ability re cult, the next VP?

But I don’t know if Dump dying would really be a good thing. It would definitely be satisfying at first, but, he’s a known entity at this point. I don’t know what would come after him.

that threat now to rattle *him*. But the threats are combined with great patience to wait for an opportune time and place. That way, *he* will live "in danger" for the rest of his life...even after he leaves office and no longer has all the protections he now has.

That's the spirit! He will NOT likely pick Kegsbreath or Rubio because he doesn't like them. He'll probably pick someone innocuous that we won't like, some kind of "assassination insurance".
