Fans of the New York Knicks are telling President Donald Trump, who once called New York his home, to "stay home" instead of attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, according to a new report.

MS NOW's Laura Haefeli spoke with several Knicks fans in New York on Sunday after it was announced that the team's watch party was canceled because of Trump's attendance at the game. The Knicks, in conjunction with the New York Police Department and the Secret Service, decided to cancel the event, which was scheduled to be held near Madison Square Garden. Instead, the parties will be held in Central Park and in Brooklyn, miles away from the arena.

Knicks fans who spoke with Haefeli expressed frustration and consternation over the decision to cancel the watch parties near MSG.

"Please, Mr. Trump, stay home," one Knicks fan said. "Do not jinx my Knicks because no McDonagh in the next 100 years will vote Republican. Just like we haven't voted Republican since the 1950s."

"Enjoy being in New York. Enjoy the stadium. Don't be too much of a distraction, and let's keep everything about what's important, and that's Knicks basketball," another fan said.

"It's going to be impossible to get on this block," another fan told Haefeli outside of MSG. "It's going to be a long walk in for a lot of these fans. It's going to be hard for them to get in. But you know what? That's what's going to need to happen to keep everybody in there safe. You know, I get it. It's going to be a pain for a lot of people to get in there."

do you suppose we would get something on the level of the fabled "STEINBRENNER SUCKS!" cheer at Yankee Stadium that was so loud it overrode the noise-canceling equipment? That would really be something!

Don't remember exactly what year it was (perhaps some Yankees fan here could enlighten me) but I think it was during one of the famous Steinbrenner-Billy Martin feuds and a time of general fan discontent with ol' George. Anyway, it was a TV game and I think the chanting began in the bleachers, but before long it had taken over the entire stadium and was so loud it overpowered NBC's noise canceling equipment and there wasn't a darn thing they could do about it. They couldn't even cut to commerdial because the game was going on.

For a few months I lived one avenue east of, and 4 blocks north of Yankee Stadium.
I often went near to 161 St (main intersection of YS) for the regular supermarket; when I couldn't get items from my bodega across the steet.

Anyway, at certain times I'd be walking back home, and cheering would arise from the stadium.
I loved that! 😄

if the crowd started chanting "TR*MP SUCKS!" during the Knicks game (whether he's there or not!) and it overpowers the sound system? Think about that for a moment, if you will.

At the announcement he is in whatever stadium box he’s in. I think if he is met with silence and disdain continuously it would really drive home how despised he truly is.

This just shows how mean and spite filled he truly is.

His base just loves watching him put up litteral road blocks to people in NY, which is just sad and pathetic.

Some Knicks fans say the president is not welcome at Madison Square Garden.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/06/08/trump-self-avowed-knicks-fan-may-face-boos-nba-finals

President Donald Trump is used to cheers at his highly curated rallies and events. But on Monday night he’s widely expected to be showered with boos when he becomes the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game.

Trump said he will watch Game 3 of the best-of-seven series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs as the guest of Knicks owner James Dolan. Some sports fans and analysts have urged Trump not to attend the game — commentator Stephen A. Smith said it would create an unnecessary spectacle — or pledged to jeer the president.

Online betting services also predict Trump will be booed in his visit to deep-blue New York City and the Knicks’ arena, Madison Square Garden. The team’s fans are famously unforgiving — quick to taunt rival players, the team’s own stars and recent New York mayor Eric Adams just days after his inauguration.

As an added frustration, Trump’s presence will create logistical hurdles for the roughly 20,000 other attendees, who have been told to arrive at least two hours before tip-off because of the enhanced security measures that follow the president. City officials have also said there will be no watch parties outside the arena for the thousands of fans who can’t get inside, breaking with recent practice.
