Former Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra (D) on Thursday advanced to Novembers general election in the race to become Californias next governor, Decision Desk HQ projects.
Trump-backed Fox News commentator Steve Hilton (R) and billionaire Tom Steyer (D) are currently battling for the second spot in Novembers election, when Golden State voters will decide on Gov. Gavin Newsoms (D) successor.

).
South Orange County is still mostly Republican - but even there, they're at lot less so than before the 2008 calamity.

(7,451 posts)Becerra will be the D nominee (yay), but to say Hilton and Steyer are battling for second place is a little ridiculous. Actual numbers as of the moment are Hilton 27%, Becerra 26%, Steyer 20%. Suffice to say Steyer cant get to Becerra, but the odds are very high that it will be Becerra v Hilton.

(12,871 posts)Election results will change throughout the ballot counting canvass period as vote-by-mail ballots, provisional ballots (including conditional voter registration provisional ballots), and other ballots are tallied.
If the Brexit* guy loses, Trump will claim rigged since he already anointed his puppet as the winner.
Steve Hilton was a key adviser to UK Prime Minister David Cameron during the period leading up to and including the 2016 Brexit referendum.

(10,584 posts)Becerra appears to be doing well among mail-in voters across the Golden States 58 counties and is expected to pass Hilton at the current vote-count pace, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Apparently, the statistical models show Becerra will end up with the most votes and Hilton and Steyer will end up in a close battle for 2nd and 3rd.

(47,731 posts)It hasn't happened yet in counted votes.

(10,584 posts)At that point, I expect Becerra to be in first place.

(1,304 posts)Now that would be legit. An interesting churning of Democratic ideas and a chance to contrast 2 of the important factions in the party too. Without deadly consequences.
A Becerra-Hilton contest is a complete waste of everybody's time and money.

(47,731 posts)Surely these money could be better spent on something else.
I mean, whatever happens will happen, but I rather not waste money.
