He might not be the hero the Golden State deserves, but he's the hero it needs.

(18,164 posts)vote dont buy into the name calling and polarization that the so-called revolution ideologies force on people. Centrist just means stability, experience, reliability. Becerra brings all that.

(29,578 posts)I've been on DU for a very long time, and folks here know my bona fides, so what do you know?

(4,699 posts)I voted for him because of his intimate knowledge both of State and Federal government, which he'll likely have to go up against even if grampy doesn't survive his entire term.
Becerra's experience is in the government as an Executive for the most populous state in the Country, and fifth largest economy in the world, plus as an executive for what was the most powerful country in the world.
Steyer, like grampy, only has rich asshole to rich asshole experience.

(4,699 posts)What does "that won't work this time" even mean, practically?
Becerra is apparently our only option for November.
Ziggy Beans
(62 posts)I didn't say anything close to that
My issue with Becerra is that I don't believe he will accomplish any real change at all. I see him as someone that will make minor tweaks to a broken system that needs major reform. There is nothing I have seen from him that would convince me he will be any different than the others that have failed as Governor before him

(4,699 posts)"That's not going to work this time"
Since Jun 2nd, there is no alternative (even if all the votes haven't been counted yet, Becerra *IS* putatively our only option. Yes, it might be Steyer, we don't know yet). But Saying Becerra won't work "this time" ignores the reality of the situation.
If by some extraordinary misfortune (IMHO) we get a choice between Becerra and Steyer, (rather than Becerra and Hilton), my money is on Becerra every time.
I'd vote for Steyer if he was the only dem choice on the November ballot, but he isn't getting a penny of my money. I have, and will continue, to support Becerra financially through November.

(3,390 posts)Seriously not trolling but I really liked what I saw of his campaign and positions. admittedly being on the other coast. I didn't dig into his history but his biggest plus to me is he's a solid hard worker,

(29,578 posts)And stated teh same thing. One of my old college students worked closely with him in Biden's Administration, and she said she doesn't get the chatter about how he was unprepared, etc. She thinks highly of him, and I rightfully think highly of her. She has dedicated her work to helping immigrant women.
