there is a lot of money on the progressive side. I think Stephen Colbert can be the focal point (along with many former CNN anchors) to buy medium sized media outlets and watch them grow.
I will not watch CBS news in any format anymore. I don't watch Fox. CNN may be screwed after warner is pillaged by the ellison's. A new rationale, objective media outlet will get a lot of eyeballs.
As Colbert said: "Reality has a liberal bias'.

The landscape for media and delivery of information continues to rapidly evolve. More people get their news from social media, specifically Tik Tok, X and Facebook, than all other sources combined.
Until the government starts regulating social media as publishers, rather than platforms, with all the responsibilities and liabilities that publishers have, the degradation of news delivery will continue.
Of course, in order to regulate social media effectively, the Supreme Court must first be expanded.

(4,054 posts)that very thing will be part of the story, along with basically everyone having an internet-connected phone in arms reach at all times.
For democracy to really work, there needs to be a foundation of common truth, and it needs to be a lot accurate than what we have now. The tie-in here being that a lack of a common truth is a huge driver of inaction on climate change, AND the destruction of democracy. In the end the result be a world ruled by rapacious billionaires and corporations, and the world's governments not being able stop the destruction because they simply lack the power to do so. Private actors are usurping them in part by circumventing any controls on the dissemination of their self-serving propaganda.

Just as newspapers are responsible for what they publish, including the comments.
Im not talking about prior restraint and anti-first amendment censorship, Im talking about the same playing field for all content providers, with the same liabilities and consequences for publishing irresponsible, false, harmful or potentially criminal content.
Right now, Facebook, X, TikTok and other social media platforms are exempt from those kinds of consequences.

(40,878 posts)I wouldn't miss any of the major television and radio "media outlets" if they vanished today.
The only place I see Colbert is embedded YouTube clips people post here on DU.
This suggests something...
