(10,307 posts)and were belittled, scoffed at, called alarmists and soft on illegal immigration (WTF?!), and were told that wise and responsible MAGA Republican leadership would not only maintain but increase prosperity in tourist-dependent regions. Shut up, liberal! Was the go-to response to anyone foreseeing these consequences.
Well, it looks like these consequences are coming down, and not only are real estate brokers and hoteliers finding out the hard way, so are countless Florida service workers as well as suppliers and support business indirectly profiting from tourist funds.
I fear that theres more pain to follow. Both US retirees and Florida Republican politicos, wont be feeling the pinch as other Floridians suffer. I suspect that next years tourist season and afterwards will prove equally painful as right-wing politicos continue to drive the political conversation.
It looks like DeSantis and like-minded Florida and national politicians are doing the same thing to Floridas tourist industry that Fidel Castro did to Cuban tourism back in the early 1960s.
As a last nasty, sarcastic observation before I wind up, what was that bogus argument about the Republican Party being the party of business and prosperity?
I forget!

Watch what happens this summer.
