I was walking my big old English Lab
120 lbs
. and a young lady in what I would guess in her
late teens was on a little motorized scooter stopped me and wanted to talk dog with me and spend
time with my dog. It was apparent that she had some issues and she told me she was autistic.
She then asked if she could spend time with my dog to which I said yes and she told me that she
liked dogs because they dont judge and make her feel good. I spent about 10 minutes with her and
both my dog Pepita and her were happy. She is lives kind of close and asked if she could see Pepita
again to which I said yes and showed her my house and told her that she is welcome anytime if it is
O.K. with her parents.
Happy Easter!
It is nice to be nice to the nice. Frank Burns, MASH.

(23,943 posts)I'm sure Pepita was loving it too.
The more I've managed to live on this planet the more I think that we are all different in many ways. None better or worse.
(Now, there are exceptions - and we all know who they are.)

(17,597 posts)You made a young lady feel seen and heard today. That was a wonderful thing for you to do. Thank you for being patient with her, and your invitation for more interaction is something I hope she will follow up and visit.
Happy Easter, Botany and Pepita!

(41,714 posts)I lost my dog last year and I'm still grieving for him in my own way. Don't know if I'll even have another dog again, because I don't think I'll find one as great as Buddy.
Whenever I see someone walking their dog I'm tempted to talk to them and pet their dog, but of course I don't. I wish I could though.
I share this "happy dance" gif because it reminds me of my Buddy. This isn't him, but he looked a lot like this:

(3,405 posts)I've noticed that their humans are always pleased at the attention - some even thank me!
ETA: I also wanted to say I'm sorry you lost buddy (I lost my two old cats) but please be open to the possibility that Buddy might be sending a dog your way.
