Trump plans to attend Wednesday's Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship

https://www.npr.org/2026/04/01/g-s1-116019/trump-attend-supreme-court-birthright-citizenship

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump plans to sit in on Wednesday's Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship, making him the first sitting president to attend oral arguments at the nation's highest court.

The Republican president's official schedule, sent out by the White House, included a stop at the Supreme Court, where justices will hear Trump's appeal of a lower court ruling that struck down his executive order limiting birthright citizenship.

"I'm going," Trump said, when the upcoming arguments in the birthright citizenship case were mentioned. To a follow-up question clarifying that he planned to go in person, Trump said, "I think so, I do believe."

There's not much more boring than sitting through hours of legal rationalization except, maybe, a day at the DMV. It will take all he can give to not snooze through it or to not have a hissy fit when he doesn't agree with a justice.

Says he not only falls asleep during the session, when he's not trying to speak out, he'll use his 'screech' tonight to threaten the justices.

They're going to hate this if it happens. If Supreme Court Justices have anything, it's ego. And Trump trying to . . . well, trump their egos with his may not actually work as well as he thinks it does.

Justices don't answer to anybody, and if provoked, they're just as capable of giving someone a fuck you as anyone else.

I would laugh my ass off if this ended being a 5-4 with Roberts and Barrett going, "Naw, dog. It doesn't work that way."

After first stripping their citizenship, illegally — SCOTUS or no SCOTUS, as citizenship by birth is spelled out in the Constitution.

This is the stupidest idea we have ever heard, who came up with this shit? Birthright citizenship has roots in the Magna Carta and several other documents that predate the Constitution.

That's how I'd feel about it at least. Don't reward bad behavior.
