while innocent people are being bombed and murdered with my tax dollars. There isn't much else I can do, but it still bothers me.
I know I can call my elected representatives, and I have, but since I live in the deep South, my expectations of that helping are close to zero.

(12,608 posts)But not sure how many people would survive that attempt. There would be a lot of dead protesters.
And it would thrill pedo Trump to no end to kill a lot of Americans. He would have to keep Malaria close by to share his joy in mass murder.

Nothing changes in our society until this starts to hurt many more people in a much more meaningful way. Like McMurtry sings
.
We just go on about our business,
Drop the kids off at the mall,
Play the Black Ops on the laptop
Dont get too excited bout it all
This will probably devolve to an attempt at martial law, because thats what its going to take to finally move enough of us. If even that. Hope by then, it isnt too late.

(2,330 posts)that aljazeera is the only one that doesnt have a peep about the oscars?
What I find depressing is that here in 2026 thats actually a source I have to use to parse my news from.
Which is the more factual news network? Fox or Aljazeera?

(2,330 posts)But that was kind of my point.
Whats the death toll in the ME right now? What are the real numbers of killed and injured service men and women? Whats the actual physical condition of the Gaza Strip right now?
Meanwhile stateside we talk about the Oscars around the water cooler this morning. Life goes on, we pay a little more for gas at the pump, and none of our media can be trusted in this administration, but other than that life here is kind of disassociated from all that chaos and death thats going on right now.
My original response was to the OP, about how life goes on, and what its going to take to mobilize enough Americans to change that.

(5,695 posts)thousands of Lebanese told to evacuate their homes because the bombing continues. Some Beirut residents took refuge at the coast because they had no place to go, then were bombed there, Now many are in tents in their own city while their homes are being bombed or under threat of.
We just blew up the ME and created more hatred, lost and shattered lives.
But alls well. While the ME burns along with our tax dollars, T gets busy planning new columns and destroying the Peoples House.

there is money, there are solutions and we just collectively can't get it together....

Americans are so ignorant and she was a perfect example.

(17,532 posts)I think about the people suffering and I also think about the animals suffering.
Way too much suffering going on. Anyone NOT affected would have to be made of stone. Like Trump.
I dont want to be like him. So I cry
.a lot.

(1,650 posts)I live in Missouri, so I know that pain. I am angry and so sad that once again this country is in a war.
I will do what I can, like contribute to humanitarian relief. World Kitchen is one I like and trust to really
do something for others.

(3,954 posts)We can be aware of the news, we can go to protests if our health permits, we can vote, we can volunteer, we can take it one day at a time, we can only do what is in within our ability to do. And we feel guilty, because we feel like there is something, anything, that we should be doing to correct this awful mess, when the reality is that the little many of us can do, we are doing, even if is just being kind to someone.
