Day voting to be back in each voter's precinct. Many counties had moved to a Vote Center model where voters could vote at any Vote Center in the county on Election Day. But with R's insisting on going backward to what they claim will be "more secure elections" back in each voters' home precinct, they forced Election Offices to do the same for Dems in that county. Dallas was one that went backwards, and Williamson County was another. But Dallas is so populated that it was a special nightmare.
On top of that, the Secretary of State refused to let Elections Administrators mail out the new voting certificates (we get new ones every even-numbered year). With redistricting many voters did not know their new Congressional Districts or any other precinct information.
One poor guy interviewed on NPR couldn't find out where he was supposed to vote so he went to his last polling location. They sent him to another one they said was where he had to vote. But when he got to that one, they sent him to a third polling place. Royal clusterf*ck.
Republicans were pushing to do that in Hays County where I live, which would have compelled us to vote in our individual precincts too. Luckily they eventually were persuaded not to do it. So we got to stay with the Vote Centers and vote anywhere in the county.
