(6,868 posts)I thought you were going to say that there were explicitly misogynistic attacks on Bondi. This is true to some extent, but most attacks are on her actions rather than on her person.

(38,860 posts)On Facebook shorts, comedian after comedian called her that. Both male and female comedians.

(1,571 posts)That's hardly something to celebrate.

(21,888 posts)The fact remains. She deserves VASTLY worse.
When this is over, the payback will be monumental. The blood of martyrs demands it.

(1,571 posts)Perhaps you missed the thread here with lots of people saying they felt free to use it. Would you feel comfortable using the n word or the f word to describe her because you don't like her? Sorry but in the context of the US, it's misogyny and shouldn't be used just because she's a horrid human.

(12,808 posts)My spouse can hang right in with a bunch of drunk soldiers swearing wise. Paint peels off our walls during football season
but one word
one forbidden word
one that got me in very much trouble early in our marriage
came blasting out of her mouth listening to Bondi.
I was beyond shocked.
Not saying its right calling her that
but its the truth.

(1,571 posts)What about derogatory slurs for gay men at Peter Thiel? Or Jared Kushner Jewish slurs? If not, what's the difference?
If the only way you can think to insult someone is with a slur, that shows a distinct lack of creativity in my opinion. Plus I'm not against slurs just when they are used against people I like. My morals aren't dependent on someone else's actions.

(987 posts)...calling him the C-word. I don't actually restrict it by gender. I know that doesn't alleviate the gendered connotation. AND I am sometimes weak in this regard.

(1,571 posts)But there's not the same social history attached to attacking men for their gender so it's more of a grey area for me.

Not to mention the two burn book advisers sitting behind her.
Hey, all those cornered rats are being paid with taxpayer dollars, so why not?

(15,226 posts)Because to the heads or parents in such families see people, including family members, as something with a cost, an investment.
The cost of raising that baby needs to be made up; if a prospective business partner thinks your eight year old Emmie is cute and wants her to constantly sit next to him, he becomes "Uncle Paul" and she sits next to him.
And she's already learned she's supposed to be nice and polite, or she doesn't get what she wants or needs.
If "Uncle Paul" can get Daddy or Mummy a significant amount of money, power, or advantage, little Emmie is expected to be nicer to "Uncle Paul" - even if it's uncomfortable - or hurts.
Of course Emmie is expected to stay within her class when it comes to exercising her value as she grows up, and her brothers and their friends also expect the same when looking for their partners as they grew up; again -
That particular "class" of people only see $$$$ as value; they know the cost of everything, so items or situations that do not present as expensive have no value.

(1,787 posts)She must defend those previous choices by unwaveringly continuing the path, or admit she was wrong.
Like Trump, she has too much ego to admit she was wrong.
She will continue to make these choices even though, as she knows now, it will be the end of her career and dignity.

(373 posts)Bondi is fresh in everyone's mind, but Bill Barr was an arrogant smirking tub of shit too. He has deflected blame from two Presidents and has gotten away cleanly. He acted as Trump's consigliere instead of doing his job as the Attorney for the people of the United States. He stood by Trump's side at new briefings, even answering some questions. And he said when Trump was going to be subpoenaed for one of his many illegal move "we haven't decided if he will plead Executive Privilege or not". That was not his role in government, and he got away clean. He was a liar and bent the laws beyond breaking and got away with it. Then when things were really going to shit in 2020, he walked away, washing his hands of the whole mess and went on a redemption tour.
