Fetterman flip-flops on voter suppression legislation after speaking out against it

As Republicans in the US House were preparing to vote on the Save America Act, which would disenfranchise up to 21 million Americans from voting in elections, US Sen. John reversed course from his opposition against voter ID laws while appearing on Fox News this past weekend.

“It’s not a radical idea for regular Americans to show your ID to vote, and absolutely those things are not Jim Crow or anything,” Fetterman said. “Of course, that’s part of an awful, awful legacy of our nation.”

Fetterman’s latest comments left some scratching their heads since they do not line up with what he has said in the past about voter ID requirements.

”In a letter to constituents on April 15th, 2025, Senator Fetterman publicly stated his commitment to protecting the right to vote, which he called the foundation of American democracy,” Amy Widestrom, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, said in an interview.

consider it voter suppression. The Republicans are pushing proof of citizenship when registering, which in many cases is unnecessary in many cases of people who already have an Id. His position is probably a good one to take in a swing state.

I could be wrong, hopefully I am: Married women who took on their spouses name will have to provide a certified birth certificate and marriage license. This, just 9 f’king months before the election!
