... for me, anyway, is knowing I won't get to see what history will actually make of these times.
History should only occur when one is young, so that fifty years later, you can read the books and say "I knew it all along."

I was 10 when JFK wa assassinated; so I didn't really get the loss on a larger scale.
By the time I was 14 in 1967, I'd already started to pay attention to socio-political issues so the losses, and election of Nixon were just devastating!

But we did okay in the early '70s in that respect.
