I went to a memorial service for Rene Good at the scene of her murder today.

It was held by an organization of local clergy of all faiths and denominations (I know one of them, a Lutheran pastor), and there was a good-sized crowd. From their various faith perspectives the speakers discussed nonviolent resistance and the need to stay and work together, and avoid reactions that would provoke violence - it was actually pretty uplifting and made me feel a little less despair on account of the dark cloud over this city. A Somali man was giving away fresh hot samosas. Some photos:

This dinosaur has been on this property for years; I always get a kick out of it when I drive by.

Glad you went, and glad you felt positive afterwards. Gives me a little hope always.

May Rene rest in peace. [I've seen the name written two different ways, and I would like to get it correct. Is it "Rene" or "Renee"?]

There should be HUGE demonstrations across every large city in America today..........

And the "never say anything Dem Senators and House members" should be screaming from the rooftops in front of those demonstrating to draw attention to all the continuing corrupt shit by Trump/Republican's CABAL's actions.........

These Dems seem to hang back, in hopes they can win a few of the MAGAots votes, when in reality, they will NEVER get their votes anyways........

Colorado only knows this too well with Hickenlooper, Bennett, and DeGette...............We have suddenly started hearing a token amount from Bennett, now that he is running for Governor....Of course, if he loses, he gets to keep his job as U.S. Senator.
The Dems, certainly don't need ANY Senator resigning at this point in time, (unless for actual family or health reasons)..Same with the House members......

Along with Trump and his CABAL....the Republican's in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate have many/most of them tearing away at us daily with almost no opposition, (with only a precious few dems speaking out).... as far as I am concerned......

Part of me is shocked that no one has opened fire on ICE agents, especially since gun violence is so rampant. It's good to be reminded that they are looking for ways to escalate the oppression. I feel helpless not being able to think of a way to help stop this dangerous slide into tyranny.

It looks like there was a good turnout.

I hope this is a turning point of some kind. It's obvious that the coverup has already started and we know the worse the crime, the worse the coverup is likely to be.

The smart thing to do would be to turn the trigger happy asshole over to he Minneapolis PD along with his firearm and any background information they have which might link him to a white supremacist organization. Our present government is not smart and so will block all of this with everything they have.

Her poor child. I can't imagine having to deal with murder before you've got a clear idea what death is.

Thank you, Ocelot II, for bringing your community in real life to your online DU community who could not be there in person. We are so much stronger, and wiser, together.

Have to admit, the photos made me feel a little less depressed.
