PA-08: Cognetti (D) Raises More Than $500,000 In First Weeks After Campaign Announcement
Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti announced today that she has raised more than $500,000 in less than one month since launching her campaign for Congress.
Cognetti, who is on the ballot for reelection as mayor of the Electric City, is hoping to take on Rep. Rob Bresnahan in the 8th Congressional District in northeastern Pennsylvania.
It was never my plan to run for Congress, but Rob Bresnahan recruited me into this race with his self-dealing and his lying to Northeastern Pennsylvanians, said Cognetti. Im grateful to have the support of so many people who share our goal of rooting out corruption in Washington and building a government that will actually work as hard as the people its supposed to serve. Together, we will hold Rob Bresnahan accountable for his broken promises and hundreds of stock trades and give Northeastern Pennsylvania the kind of independent leadership that our communities deserve.
Cognetti, who has picked up key statewide Democratic endorsements from Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Congressman Chris Deluzio (D-17), and former PA-08 congressman Matt Cartwright, has also drawn attention through her campaign launch video that has been viewed more than 1 million times.
