I'm tired of the media acting like that 35% of unmoveable deplorables are the only voters that matter.

And yes, I know the adage is you want to win over all voters, but these are not normal times and those voters are not normal people. But the media continues to act like that 35% takes precedence over the rest of us and I'm sick and tired of it.

I haven't seen the full interview. But the problem is in this clip it just comes off badly and more like she just doesn't want to answer questions.

But like me she is probably tired of the media saying we need to bend the knee to assholes.

I'm not a politician but I'm a voter and I'm sick of it and I'm sure there are many like me i that boat. I don't think this will hurt her very much at all. At least not with women voters who feel like I do.

Ideologically and intellectually she would make a great Governor. But she can't win if she can't manage some level of Gravitas that mends well with the media and communication...

An extremely bright and intelligent person but not enough political skills to ultimately be successful....unfortunately.

Attempted Gotcha questions are part of the discourse, and she needs to be able to handle them.

I have said it before, we need to contrast her path with that of AOC.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/08/katie-porter-cbs-interview

After CBS published the interview, several of Porter’s rivals criticized her response.

“I’m not interested in excluding any vote,” Xavier Becerra, the former health and human services secretary, wrote on X, sharing a clip of his interview with the same reporter asking him the same question. “Every Californian deserves affordable healthcare, safe streets, a roof over their head and a living wage.”

“We need a leader who will solve hard problems and answer simple questions,” said Antonio Villaraigosa, the former Los Angeles mayor and a Democrat running for governor. He also shared his interview with Watts.

The California state superintendent, Tony Thurmond, a Democrat, said this was “a pattern for Porter” and asked Watts to moderate a debate among the Democratic candidates in the race.

“If she can’t answer basic questions from a reporter, how can Californians expect her to stand up to President Trump?” he wrote on X.

“Katie Porter doesn’t have the temperament to be governor,” the former state controller Betty Yee, a Democrat, said.

Her reasoning is terrible. She could have used a more subtle and politically astute way of leaving the interview. It’s bad.

here is another example:

‘Get out of my f--king shot’: Katie Porter tears into staffer in newly released video

The former member of Congress, who is now running for California governor, also vented that she was snubbed by the Biden White House, complaining she raised the president “a shit ton of money.”

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/08/katie-porter-tears-into-staffer-new-video-00598942

SACRAMENTO, California — A newly surfaced video shows Katie Porter — the frontrunner in next year’s race for California governor — blasting a staffer who interrupted a meeting the former House member was taping for the Biden administration.

“Get out of my fucking shot!” Porter said after the employee came into view.

Video of the exchange, exclusively obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, shows an online conversation between Porter and then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021. Several minutes in, Porter’s staffer interjected to correct something the Democratic representative had said about electric vehicles. Porter then reprimanded her employee, who had also previously appeared periodically in the background during the recording.

“You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot,” Porter said. The staffer, whom POLITICO is not identifying out of privacy concerns and who was not the source of the video, declined to comment.

I liked her when she was in control, had the white board with evidence and data. This isn't what I would want in a governor. Granted I don't have a vote not being a voter in California, but I would hope California Democrats would make a different choice.

We should want a press that asks follow up questions. We all get frustrated with Fox and others who do fawning interviews with Republicans and don't ask difficult follow up questions.

Other candidates faced similarly worded questions from Watts and responded with equilibrium.

Watts asked former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra if he needed Trump voters’ support to win the governor’s race. Becerra: “I need every vote.”

Watts straight-up told former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa that he would need Trump supporters’ votes to win. Villaraigosa agreed and said he would work to unite people across California: “You win a few, you lose a few.”

No one else reacted the way Porter did. The testy exchange was a made-for-social-media moment that instantly enlivened an anodyne race in which the leading Democratic candidates have struggled to differentiate themselves from each other.

I'll pay attention after Nov 5th more to other races . . . but it's weird that some magat is ahead of Democrats in CA. Everyone out there is going to need to coalesce around the leading Democrat quickly.

Different than NJ - we had two progressive candidates and their being in the primary until the end is how Sherrill one. Porter is the Progressive who might have one or two too many liberals running against her.

California has never had a woman for Governor. It just might be the right candidate at the right time for Porter.
