Republican Ousted By Democrat in Shock Election Defeat - Newsweek https://www.newsweek.com/alaska-fairbanks-mayor-election-democrat-republican-10844700
Alaska's City of Fairbanks Mayor David Pruhs, a Republican, conceded to Mindy O'Neall, a Democrat, in the mayoral election on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary election night results, ONeall received 1,808 votes (54 percent) and Pruhs received 1,528 votes (45.7 percent). Republicans have held the mayoralty for over a decade.
The race is over. Mindy ONeall won. A few votes yet to be counted, but I'm down by 250 votes. The voters have spoken, Pruhs told Alaskas News Source.
Pruhs blamed low voter turnout and ONeall having the support of the state Democratic Party for his defeat.

VOTE!
Fairbanks population is around 32,000. Its still very low turnout, though.
Gimpyknee
(903 posts)The population of Fairbanks is approximately 31,500 people with the median age of age of 28+ years and all they can draw is 3,300 voters? What a fen joke. Alaska has less than 750,000 citizens compared to
New Yorks nearly 20 million and they both get two Senators? Again, a fen joke. And while Im at it, fuck the shithole states of Utah, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota and their unfair representation in the Senate.
