(94,650 posts)As it should have been in the first place. Fetterman was pushed as a true progressive and frankly has failed miserably. And no...it is not just about his stroke.
Even AOC:
AOC trades barbs with Fetterman, apologizes to Conor Lamb
Lamb replied to AOCs apology in the thread:
No need clearly we have been on the same side of the oligarchy question (against) and protecting Social Security and Medicare (for) . lets make that team as big as possible. Good luck on the road, his reply reads.
AOC then replied again:
Amen. Thank you for all you do and lets go get em ❤️, she wrote.

Conor Lamb is stepping back into the political spotlight
Mr. Lamb was filling the seat that should have been reserved for the states sitting U.S. senators, Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dave McCormick. But the organizers with Indivisible Pittsburgh, a local chapter of the nationwide organization that has been protesting President Donald Trump, couldnt get in touch with them.
So organizer Dana Kellerman and her team decided instead of having a town hall where constituents voiced their concerns to empty chairs, they would reach out to Mr. Lamb.

(39,219 posts)Which - if it's true - would be total bullshit because she came to this country 36 years ago.
Gisele Beretto Almeida Fetterman was born in Brazil, and came here with her family at the age of seven. She's fully educated and naturalized, as well as married here and the mother of 3 beautiful kids. If Chump thinks he can deny residence (and citizenship) to Gisele Fetterman, then he must think he can do it to any of us. (The short answer is, Chump can't.)
It seems to me that Fetterman is feeling vulnerable since the strokes and hospitalization at the beginning of his term. I'm not privy to his private medical reports, and neither is anyone else outside of his own family. However if he's feeling that vulnerable he really should consider resigning as Senator. Because if he doesn't he won't be serving the best interests of the voters of Pennsylvania, or his own family.
I've voted for John Fetterman and I supported his run for the Senate, but I think he needs to step back now.

(39,219 posts)Almost immediately Fetterman did a 180 about-face on everything he's ever believed in.
You do the math. It breaks my heart because I loved the guy and I donated to his campaign.

(7,846 posts)People have been complaining about Fetterman here ever since he was elected (search the archives - there's tons of posts) long before Trump was elected. And he hasn't done a 180 on things. He has actually been consistent. There's certain issues he has voted on every time how he said he would when campaigning - he will never vote "against Israel" and he will never vote for a shutdown (and there are others).
Like most people here, I strongly disagree with his position on both those issues. However, he has yet to make a vote that was a deciding vote against Democratic priorities - Something that can't be said about Manchin or Sinema.

(7,846 posts)He said: I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down." And he has stuck to that. Note that he has also voted for the Democratic counter proposals. So he is not advocating for the Republican position. I strongly disagree with him, but when it comes to facing a shutdown, he has made clear he will always vote for anything that avoids a shutdown.
The 2 Senators who people should be far angrier at are Angus King & Catherine Cortez Masto who also voted for the CR but they, unlike Fetterman, have never pledged not to vote for a shutdown and have in fact taken votes in the past that would lead to a shutdown.

Wiz Imp
(7,846 posts)A shutdown is to get 60 votes for cloture and he knew he would need to be one of those votes to have any chance of succeeding. Thankfully, only a couple other Dems voted with him and it failed. If they actually had gotten the 60 votes for cloture, then 0 Democratic votes would be needed to pass the CR so in that situation, he could have abstained, voted present or voted no and it still would pass. But to keep his pledge, he had to vote for cloture first

(3,812 posts)YEAH, I know he's been rather shitty with a lot of his public statements after his stroke,
but the fact is that he still mostly votes with the Democratic party.
Having a shit-fit over what he says only magnifies it.
I think we should just ignore him.
