Trump on pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell this morning: "I'm allowed to do it", as Leavitt nods emphatically behind him.

This in combination with most of the corporate media ignoring the victims, will be the strategy for selling both the exoneration of trump and the "deal" for Maxwell to maga. The audience isn't Democrats, obviously. But I think there's a decent chance that his base will fall for it.

Based on the public's willingness to forget anything in a couple of days, they're getting ready to do the deed, pardon her and let her disappear from public view forever. Willingly or unwillingly.

The hard-core base will. We have to keep in mind that a portion of them believed John F. Kennedy, Jr was going to appear at a rally in Dallas. We are not talking about reality-based people there.

What I think is more important is that the outer base is coming apart at the seams. Also, he has lost support of those republicans and independents who, for their own reasons, voted for him.

3. I don't understand how this helps with MAGA

They thought Trump was going to release the Epstein files and bring down an entire pedo ring of famous elites. Now he’s refusing to release the files, and talking about setting free the only member of the pedo ring that was actually convicted and imprisoned.

How does pardoning a convicted child sex trafficker help him with his Epstein-fixated base? The only reason this is an ongoing scandal is because the media can’t blow it off as a partisan witch hunt — large numbers of MAGAs are angry about this. They want the files released, not the perpetrators.
