As I was eating breakfast at a truck stop......

Fox News was on the TV. The statement on the scroll stated that Obama changed his position on deportation when he was president. One of the guys setting at another table says “see Trump isn’t as bad as Obama”! I simply said “what Trump is doing is illegal and irrationals”. The guy asked why? I said “because Obama deported criminals and Trump is trying to be a dictator, deporting as many as they can”. The guy turned pale and said that I was a hater. I replied “if you say so, but before you call me a hater, you might want to check your own self in a mirror”. He gave me a dirty look, but never utter another word!

Oh how thee is so stupid to believe in a criminal dictator.

“Donald Trump is a stupid man’s idea of a smart person, a poor man’s idea of a rich man, and a weak man’s idea of a strong man.” - Fran Lebowitz

https://www.instagram.com/p/CGrDNfFBSDu/?hl=en

Fran Lebowitz once called Donald Trump “a poor person’s idea of a rich person,” saying, “all that stuff he shows you in his house—the gold faucets—if you won the lottery, that’s what you’d buy.”

The quote, taken from a 2016 Vanity Fair article, has since been gilded and embellished to become something like “Donald Trump is a stupid man’s idea of a smart person, a poor man’s idea of a rich man, and a weak man’s idea of a strong man.”

The embellished version has become the more-quoted quote, because there’s an obvious emotional truth to it. (“When the legend becomes fact,” as another famous misquotation has it, “print the legend.”) That Trump is an avatar for a child’s idea of a lot of things, especially masculinity, is key to understanding the entire current political moment. This idea was expressed perhaps most credulously, if unintentionally, by comedian Andrew Schulz a couple weeks back.

Here's the Schultz quote:
“Flagrant” podcast host and comedian Andrew Schulz is somewhat turning on Donald Trump after voting for him over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. During a recent podcast episode (via The Daily Beast), Schulz admitted he’s been sort of duped by Trump. As the comedian put it: “Everything he campaigned on I believe he wanted to do, and now he’s doing the exact opposite thing of every single fucking thing.”

“There’ll be people that they’ll DM me like, ‘You see what your boy’s doing? You voted for this.’ I’m like, ‘I voted for none of this,’” Schulz said. “He’s doing the exact opposite of everything I voted for. I want him to stop the wars — he’s funding them. I want him to shrink spending, reduce the budget — he’s increasing it. It’s like everything that he said he’s going to do — except sending immigrants back, and now he’s even flip-flopped on that, which I kind of like.”

tsf, are giving themselves is that he's a well documented flip-flopper and liar. Any one with a half functioning brain would have realized they were being conned by a frequently exposed con man, and voted for Harris . Those who got fooled have only themselves to blame, and deserve the consequences that result from their foolish actions. I might feel more forgiving, if those of us who voted for Harris, and those who weren't able to vote, weren't suffering because the tsf's sheep refused to listen to the truth about tsf. So 🖕 them and their excuses.

Why they want to warehouse these people in cages is just to be cruel. Democratic presidents had those here illegally deported. And they also tried to accommodate asylum seekers and foreigners here as legal workers or tourists.

I know you always think later on what would have been some good comebacks, but you did good.

was just awful. Yes, it is MUCH MUCH worse now. But, it was awful then.

President Obama did a lot of things right. Immigration was not one of them. I know he was fighting for reform. But, it sure didn't happen under his watch.

If I see the television tuned to a news channel I'll ask right away, "What is that shit? What's the fuckwit king done now?"

Or something similar.

I don't visit many places where the television news is on. If places do have a television, like my doctor's office, it's usually tuned to something less controversial like HGTV, or more likely in my part of the world, football, not the U.S.A. kind.

In Phoenix a few years ago I was staying at Hampton Inn and the guy at the desk said he was not allowed to change the channel. I went outside to smoke, tagged the place on fb and said I would never go back there because they insisted on feeding right wing propaganda to their clientele.

15 minutes later I walked back in and the tv was on CNN.

tRump called our Veterans ‘Suckers and Losers’

If THAT doesn’t stop the BS, they sputter, “but he’s a good businessman.” Unbelievable. ‘Six bankruptcies and failed businesses’ stops that crap.

I could talk about felonies, cheating on wives, grifting, lying, & breathtaking stupidity but they don’t want to hear about that. Cutting Medicare, Medicaid, ACA, Soc Sec? Nope. I don’t waste my time.

And they REALLY don’t want to hear the Bible part … the all-things-Jesus-was-for-Dump-is-against. part

I have found, however, that an occasional well-timed “Bullshit!” works wonders 😊

I've noticed this. They don't have any facts to back up their position. They have group think. They have Fox News telling them they're right. They have the cult like "every reasonable person thinks..."

But when confronted with a fact they get surly and silent.

Legally using the system. Immigration wasn't out of control, they weren't ignoring the issue, and Trump hasn't fixed anything by ignoring the law, spending billions on prisons while arresting people that have been here working for 20 plus years.

The whole narrative is bullshit RW lies created to cause fear in this truck driver. He had been played. Sadly so many in America want to be played.
