No FEMA for Texas

As Texas drowns, Trump's NOAA and FEMA cuts under fire: ‘This is not the time’
Beleaguered Weather Service defends its forecasts as Texas officials point fingers over flood warnings
As Flood Deaths Rise, Texas Officials Blast Faulty Forecast by DOGE-Gutted National Weather Service
‘Texas is ready’: Abbott responds to Trump’s FEMA exit strategy
Trump's DOGE cuts are a Texas-sized disaster

If anything, Congress needs to raise taxes for one specific reason:

Climate Change

Climate change causes natural disasters this party doesn't seem to understand or think is a threat.

Hurricanes - Wildfires - Sea Level Raise - Floods - Earthquakes.

This nation cannot afford tax cuts for billionaires.

Ronald Reagan found out he could not run the government on a 25% top tax rate
and had to raise taxes twelve times during his terms!

Of course, the National and State Republicans will point fingers at everyone. That is just how they operate nowadays.

Firing hundreds of employees at NWS and NOAA by DOGE and Trump has nothing to do with disasters or the recovery from them.

Somehow, they will end up blaming the Biden administration.

Most recent Disaster Relief Fund Monthly Report from May 31, 2025 from DHS which is the umbrella FEMA exists under. The report appears to indicate that the fund will be in the red by September of this year.

It's not clear if funding will be "replenished" and that the services provided by FEMA will continue.

Without continued funding, then what?

for FEMA during Helene even though there WAS enough funding to deal with Helene and the subsequent FL hurricane. It was called PREPAREDNESS.

What did MAGA Mike do?

Sent Congress home. Would he recall Congress to get the supplemental FEMA funds voted on? No. Whose idea was that? Whomever manipulates Trump.

So where is MAGA Mike? Get him to the podium!

Baron Marcel Bich, the inventor of the BIC pen and disposable razor, was 68 years old and an avid sportsman. He had sponsored two challenges to win sailing's ultimate award, the America's Cup, and he loved tennis. But when the baron's heart began to fail, a Japanese business partner suggested he switch to golf. The baron took his advice, and was soon impassioned about the game.

His problem was that no golf course of merit existed near his massive hunting estate in the Loire Valley, about an hour and a half southwest of Paris by car. What's a determined billionaire to do? Nothing less than build his own golf resort, and not just any 18 holes. "He wanted a championship course, something that would show the French what golf was meant to be," recalls Jim Shirley, the landscape engineer whom Bich hired along with Houston golf architect Robert von Hagge to realize his dream.

but they damn sure want it when it affects them. They won't pay for California, but Texas gets special treatment?

Oh, no, the leopards are coming to eat your faces. Those poor camp kids paid the price for your nonsense, and I'd bet most of the parents voted for it, too. It's not right, but decisions have consequences. Sometimes, painful and terribly sad ones.

I keep crying, thinking of those kids, just washed away. They didn't deserve that.

We have a long history of childism and child abuse in this country. When I read the book Childism: Confronting Prejudice Against Children by Elisabeth Young-Bruehl it really opened my eyes.

I am disgusted to know that some of those parents will actually be mourning their human tax breaks later. Maybe the shock of what part they play in disasters like this will open their eyes. I hope.

That is what had turned NC against FEMA enough to send the militia after FEMA workers. The workers were eventually withdrawn. But it was a Trump lie, which he played into to dismantle FEMA once taking office. Have funds been restored so the organization can do its job or is it being set up to fail?

The longer term rebuilding and replenishing aspect is gone. The grants are gone. The supports to replacing housing lost and municipal buildings lost. The ways that FEMA replenished the economy and brought new
jobs gone. The old FEMA would stay for years sometimes to get the area back up and running this crowd will be out before you know it leaving the state to do the rest. This is a lost for us all even if we are not
in a disaster area.

It's now up to the precedent to determine who gets FEMA response or not...

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was activated in Texas after President Donald Trump signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned, so it's okay!

Donald Trump played golf and celebrated at his country clubs as the tragedy of the Texas floods unfolded. As of July 7, Fox News reports that 82 people are dead.
