Video - On Food And Immigration
I've been a long time subscriber to Adam Ragusea's YouTube channel, but when another person whose blog I've followed for the over 20-some years it's existed (www.newsfromme.com) recommended as many people as possible see this video, I decided to post it here. I don't agree with all of Ragusea's solutions, but I think he does a great job of explaining the nexus between our food costs and how the undocumented help keep those low, something that's probably not news to the person who's a DU member, but could be of value to people they know.
Something many people don't know is before the "hardening" of the border by Reagan and his predecessors of both parties, many immigrants would come here to work, make money, and eventually go back to their home countries where they could live very comfortably. The U.S.'s antipathy toward immigrants from Central America has stunted the economies of those countries, making them more dangerous, and making the U.S. more desirable to those looking for safety and stability.
