A vile War Criminal who kills children
"An 8-year-old girl who loved dancing in a red dress at her dentists office. A 28-year-old national equestrian champion. A poet one week away from her 24th birthday. ... All are among the civilians killed during Israeli airstrikes on Iran."

Same horrendous war crimes Israel committed in Gaza .
this is completely genocide and ethnic cleansing . attacked babies, children, women, the elderly, the disabled, hospitals, ambulances, medics, schools, teachers, residential complexes, worship places .You have destroyed the international rules of the game, insulted the authority of the UN, torn apart the sense of justice, and hurt human values, and tarnished the face of human civilization."

The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.

(3,186 posts)Too often, I see the media lavish attention more on individuals of one side of this ages-long battle, with interviews, etc., while hundreds or thousands of Palestinian refugees and victims go nameless.
I suppose Western journalism has a cultural bias that favors Judeo-Christianity over other faiths.
And that's fucked up.

(110,303 posts)How many have been killed there? Oh, yes. Their five-year-olds are all Hamas--no innocents there
And, are Persian (Shia Muslim) children REALLY any different than Palestinian Sunni Muslims? Netanyahu would clearly answer "NO." "Children, Schmildren..." Gotta make a point...
Netanyahu is irredeemable, but as with Trump, scared people will support him.

(2,178 posts)Still the entire catalyst was, and is, Israel.
Israel has stolen land.
Israel has killed countless civilians.
Israel has bombed hospitals, ambulances, clinics, neonatal care units,
bombed water supplies, bombed electricity generator stations for civilians.
Committed unspeakable horrors on civilians.
Actually actively stopping, stopped food so 10s of thousands starving
So NO!!
ABSOLUTELY NO!!
ITS NOT IN ANY SAME OR FORM AS THE SAME,
Israel is the one responsible for this madness in the entire Middle East.
Arazi
(7,953 posts)Theyre a Shia country surrounded by Sunni majority countries that have actively oppressed their own Shia minorities. Persian Iran has propped up their Shia brethren long before Israel was even a state
That Iran also hates Israel is just another data point in their regional terrorism.
If Israel managed to effect regime change in Iran do you seriously believe theyre going to give up on nuclear enrichment? (Or funding their fellow Shia proxies?)
The Islamic Republic are not good guys.
IrishBubbaLiberal
(2,178 posts)They are all nuts
Arazi
(7,953 posts)Absolving Iran of any responsibility for their own murderous terrorism in this situation is deeply flawed.
I promise you that the next Iranian government , even if its a democratic government, will continue assisting (cough) their Shia brethren, and will continue their quest for nuclear power - probably on steroids as its now globally obviously clear that to ensure national security a country must have nukes.
IrishBubbaLiberal
(2,178 posts)But to blame Iranians is bullshit.
Thats like blaming millions of Americans for the crimes Trump is inflicting.
ITS THE DAMN GOVERNMENT LEADERS!
I sure dont believe Americans blame Israel civilians of anything,
Its the extremism by Netanyahu and his extremist administration of thugs,
War Criminals. THATS WHO AMERICANS HOLD RESPONSIBLE
Arazi
(7,953 posts)Go ahead and highlight where I blame Iranian civilians.
Ill wait.
(And again, this war has been low level percolating for many many years. Iran is as much responsible for current events as Israel)
IrishBubbaLiberal
(2,178 posts)Iran government leaders are religious wackos
Its the citizens civilians that are the ones who suffer when war is waged.
Governments are the problem, Israel is run by a bunch of Netanyahu extremists
that always chose death and destruction and mass slaughter of civilians in Gaza.
IrishBubbaLiberal
(2,178 posts)Agree.
But
to Netanyahu
.
The only human life that matters is their own.
Netanyahu kills and slaughtered 50,000+ Palestinians in Gaza,
with impunity so far.
Hopefully in the near future Netanyahu will be arrested and imprisoned for life
as a war criminal
But Israel isnt exactly the good guys either.

(36,713 posts)A 45-year legacy of brutal, misogynist theocratic repression internally, kidnapping foreign nationals, a pointless war w/ Saddam Hussein that killed nearly a half-million people, funding and arming Shiite Militias in Iraq, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and selling drones and missiles to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Iran has ALSO fomented madness in the Middle East for the entire duration of the Islamic Republic. I don't want these Shiite fanatics to have nukes.
Israel isn't simply paranoid: Iran truly is their principal foe.

(3,041 posts)What horrifies me now is the utter communication blackout. Israel has destroyed the last cable into Gaza. Internet is down.
We are not seeing the true scope of the atrocities. They are being committed under cover of darkness, purposely created.
There is a reason foreign journalists are banned and most of the local ones killed off.
Today at least 16 people were killed waiting for aid. Shelled by tanks, attacked by drones. They can't even get away. At least 50 killed a couple of days ago. Hundreds in the last few weeks. Thousands wounded, with no hospitals or no adequate care. These roundabouts they are told to gather at have become shooting galleries and death traps. Yet people still go because they are LITERALLY STARVING.
I have never seen humanity sunk so low.
Israel IS responsible.

(27,696 posts)Hell of a lot of Iranian drones and missiles terrorizing Ukrainian cities right now. Constant bombing raids with many, many casualties including children.
I have a feeling it's not a very popular message on DU right now though.

(56,109 posts)Taking out all the hospitals in Gaza is an exponential war crime.
Do you really think Israel can start a war with Iran and face no retaliation?
Israel deserves all the criticism it receives in this board, as do its defenders.
MarineCombatEngineer
(15,736 posts)I'm all for Israel and Iran to slug it out and may the chips fall where they may, without any US direct involvement in combat, IOW, no US troops, air assets etc.
As far as Israel deserving all the criticism and all here who defend them, the opposite is true, but that seems to be far and few in between with some here.

The tragedies and horrors of Gaza have come to Israel. I do not wish the suffering of Gazans on anybody, including the innocents of the nation inflicting it.

From older UK news report
..
Meanwhile, a doctor from north London, who is currently working in Gaza, claimed the Israeli IDF briefing was an "outlandish excuse" to target hospitals.
Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah said: "At the end of the day, what they need to be reminded of, continuously, by everybody, and press included, is that the targeting of any hospital is a war crime, regardless of what outlandish excuses they might provide."
Asked if it was possible to evacuate a hospital like Shifa, he said: "How do you evacuate 1,700 critically injured patients? 150 ventilated patients?
"How do you evacuate over 100 patients with burns over 40% of their body surface area? And where do you evacuate them? And why should you?
"International humanitarian law was created to protect hospitals, protect them against this attack and this idea that if you tell people that you're going to commit a war crime against them, somehow it becomes less of a war crime. It is a war crime."

(21,779 posts)Because Netanyahu and stuff; their deaths generate no outrage
AloeVera
(3,041 posts)Outraged that there is more senseless killing, more wounding of hearts of those who cannot stand to see it. The horror inflicted on the dying, the wounded and the families. More dispossession and despair.
If I had seen evidence that the last 20 months produced outrage and sorrow from those defending the killings, I would perhaps have more outrage left to spare. But now I have to divide it among the 24 Israeli dead and the 53,000+ Palestinian ones and now hundreds of Iranians too.
Meanwhile Israel killed 92 Palestinians today. 144 yesterday.
Including 16 starving people killed by tank shelling once again.
There is only so much outrage and sorrow a person can take or process.
sarisataka
(21,779 posts)Were also Palestinians. But they were Israeli Palestinians so they get nearly zero notice
AloeVera
(3,041 posts)They are getting lots of notice. As every human being deserves.
Unlike the tens of thousands of faceless, nameless dead Palestinians.
Why are so many victims in Israel the Palestinian Citizens of Israel?
Because they don't have the safe rooms and shelters that Jewish Israelis have. Their lives not worth as much to the Jewish state obviously.
