Dozens of ICE vehicles posted up at Dodgers Stadium Gate E. Folks are suspecting that they may be bringing people here after conducting raids.

âPRESS ADVISORY: No wonder the Dodgers have been silent on ICE! DODGERS are letting ICE use their stadium as a staging site!! Dozens of agents seen, a van that kidnapped vendors just drove into stadium, lots of agents & vans hereâ
Given the history of Dodgers Stadium, using it to house people abducted by ICE is especially offensive.

Regardless, it's a good time for folks to read up on the Battle of Chavez Ravine.

Plummer joined the ownership group in September 2019.

Wonder what some of the investors think about this aiding and abetting of state sanctioned terrorism?

(12,667 posts)are owned by the Walmart crowd...... Except for the Rockies NML Baseball team, and I am not sure that the Waltons will want a Pro Baseball team that most likely never do well here, due to the combination of Altitude and Heat.........Planes coming and going from DIA and other airports here just use more flaps, greater airspeed, and longer runways, none of which you can do with a baseball.....
I doubt pitchers would want to come here, with them risking throwing out their arms trying to put enough on every pitch.......especially with 50% of their games played here.....and so the Waltons may not want them.....

(1,002 posts)Dodger fan since the mid 1950s. i was happy when they moved to los Angeles and the games were carried by KFI (which meant Vin Scully could be heard on Mars). My father and I would listen to the games while we were working on an addition to the house. I stood by them when they balked at paying Don Drysdale and Sandy Koulfax the astronomical $100,000 a season that they wanted. And, yes, I felt badly about Chavez Ravine. But I cheered the no hitters, perfect games and record scoreless innings.
Then there were the late sixties after I got back in country and all that my father and I could safely talk about was Dodger baseball even though we were both FDR Democrats.
I stood by when some players refused to sign twenty million dollar contracts for a single year and I stood by baseball even when some players broke records for home runs by using steroids (and lost the '88 series to superior pitching and good scouting). I carried with me the ghosts of Furrillo and Hodges and Pee Wee Reece and Junior Gilliam. Then I stopped.
The straw that broke me was that the Dodgers went to the Whitehouse after their world series win even AFTER the sick fuck had JACKIE ROBINSON'S biography removed from the Annapolis library. So FUCK them.... and (even though I was a sailor) FUCK the Navy too!
Now there is this Iceholes at the stadium thing..... so DOUBLE FUCK them.
On Edit: Being old and dumb I did not read the entire thread and just began shooting. So I apologize for the "DOUBLE FUCK" comment which was not deserved. The single "FUCK them" will remain.
Sorry.

(15,736 posts)if you had, you'd know that the Dodger org. denied ICE entry into the stadium and ICE was escorted off the parking lot by the LAPD.

On edit: Good on them if they are denying entry.

(1,927 posts)Chavez Ravine was the site of a longstanding, working class Latino neighborhood before the Dodgers colluded with the City and developers to confiscate and raze it. The folks who owned land there got rotten deals through eminent domain and, whether they wanted to or not, had to move before the bulldozers leveled the place

(11,146 posts)This isn't a movie or a game: I doubt anyone who thinks shooting at tires is a good idea is so good a shooter that every bullet will hit its intended target and not some actual human being. Take pictures, sure; write down license plate numbers, of course; boycott sports teams that cooperate with ICE, I'm with you; wave signs and jeer at the supposed agents - well, it's still a sorta free country. But leave the firearms safely at home.

(4,760 posts)at this rate we'll start seeing threads that the Dodger players themselves are kidnapping immigrants.

Department of Homeland Security vehicles with masked agents were stationed Thursday morning outside Dodger Stadium, in another sign of the raids sweeping Southern California.
It is unclear what operation the federal agents were carrying out or whether anyone in the area was arrested. Images of the government vehicles immediately played out on social media and fueled speculation about their activities. The agents declined to say why they were at the stadium when asked by a Times reporter.
[...]
According to multiple people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly, agents were denied entry to the Dodger Stadium grounds when they attempted to enter the parking lots.
The parking lot is not owned by the Dodgers, but is considered Dodgers property by the team. It is owned by the teams former owner, billionaire Frank McCourt. The team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

(11,546 posts)many of the staff are immigrants, legal and otherwise. They were probably trying to kidnap the cooks and janitors. Suppose they grabbed some players as well? Imagine ICE deporting Ohtani. ("They're taking our jobs!"}

(7,953 posts)To be clear, the LAPD just escorted ICE into the parking lot. I do not know where they are going. Probably 100 protestors here at Gate E. Itâs possible they are escorting them to another gate to exit to avoid a clash with protestors.

On social media, the Major League Baseball team said that federal agents working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrived at the stadium and "requested permission to access the parking lots."
"They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization," the Dodgers said, adding that their game against the Padres will go on on the stadium as scheduled.
Demonstrators standing outside the stadium's gates were seen holding signs and chanting "ICE out of L.A." and "ICE go home" as several dark SUV vehicles stood on the opposite side of the road. Some of the federal agents appeared to be wearing Homeland Security uniforms.
The federal agents who showed up in those vehicles were turned away from entering the stadium gates, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.
