Mulvaney warns of safety concerns over White House's new flagpoles

Mulvaney warns of safety concerns over White House’s new flagpoles

BY SARAH FORTINSKY 06/18/25 09:16 PM ET

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Wednesday raised safety concerns about President Trump’s newly installed flagpoles at the White House.

In an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill,” the former Trump official questioned how the president’s helicopter would continue to land safely on the South Lawn, where a flagpole now stands.

“I see a problem for where they’re supposed to land the helicopter — because this is right on the South Lawn, and I’m not really sure,” Mulvaney said in the interview when asked about the flagpoles.

“I imagine they considered this, they’d be landing someplace else, but I’m looking at this going, as the chief of staff, who’s in charge of military operations at the White House, ‘Where are we landing the helicopter without creating an increased risk for the president of the United States?’ I don’t know the answer to that yet,” he added. … The Hill reached out to the White House for comment.

So when it's time to boot his ass, no one has to get their boot dirty.

Instead, take a tennis net and some bungee cords, and rig up a slingshot. Aim for the Washington Monument!

yes i know they're grounded, but still, electricity can do anything. It could topple a pole, create sparks between them, even if the energy is supposed to dissipate in the ground. It can move to other underground conductors.

If they're a safety hazard, I don't care how patriotic they may appear.

The entire White House must be detrumpified.

view of the White House now looks like any of those businesses you see with those gigantic stadium sized flags. This fits perfectly with his fake gold embellishments all over the Oval Office, the Qatari jet, the fake tan, the strange hair, the absurdly long ties, lifts in his shoes, and the ill fitting suits among countless other examples. I am remembering that he sued the city of Palm Beach for 25 million to keep his 80 foot flag pole at Mar-a-Lago which violated city ordinance. The depths of his sociopathic narcissism are staggering.
