Abuse "may have" been the motivation. I'll put 99% on that "may have".

and suspicion that we're both right in large part.
Usually - and this is clearly not one of those cases - 5-10 years down the road, somebody has gotten a nod along the lines of "still alive." Apparently, and rather tragically?, there was no such 'somebody' to be trusted - or imagined to care - in this case. But hats off to a survivor who did what needed to be done!

That the abuse was it. My mother left my dad, and all of us, because he was beating her brutally, in front of us, and saying he would kill her. I never blamed her for leaving, I was pissed that she didn't take us with her.
