Anyone else noice food packagers are up to their old tricks in the inflation wars?

I ordered groceries online from Alberson's yesterday, and yielding to my sweet tooth, I included a couple of Heath Bars.

When I got them I noticed right off they're now about 7/8s their former size.

It's called taking advantage as as far as I know, a supply chain hitch hasn't affected the ingredients of these candy bars.

Guess 6/8s the size is next.

They ever stopped. Stuff that used to be in a standard 1kg pack now 900 gm. Drinks shrunk too. Only thing that's getting bigger is the price.

Contained three full length sleeves and one about 3/4 long. Spinach bunches are also shrinking.

The sleeve was full but 3/4 the length of the others.

If it had been unfilled, I probably just would have thought it due to a packaging machine malfunction.

Three cents maybe? Guess their bean counters have it al calculated.

It's not just my memory as a kid when candy bars could dwarf little hands, it's that my parents could have a 16 year old me and my 12 year old little brother split a checkout line Snickers, Heath, 3 Musketeers, ect, and there was usually enough for six to eight bites - and now that's about what you get in the same checkout line candy bar.
It's not just that they're providing "healthier" sizes...

They understand their own economics. They have ends to meet.
How do they do it with maintaining customers?
They know customers can tolerate their own benefits when they get them.
The farmer let's an apple go to sell a bushel.

But is best to be wary because if you don't buy it, they reduce the price.

A lot of 16 oz stuff is now 12 crackers and pasta chips.ect.

Years ago cracker barrel came in 10 oz blocks as opposed to most others 8 then they went to 8 and less depending on the cheese. Price did not change.

I go out to eat and I can never finish my meal. I get something from the supermarket to eat and am still hungry. What gives?

If you just toss stuff in, the change isn't so noticeable.

But I've been adjusting my childhood recipes for at least 30 years, because that long ago they changed from 30 (occasionally 32) oz cans to 28 oz cans of tomatoes (just as one example). So I have to decide whether to just have a bit less tomato in the recipe, or break open a second can to use part of it to top off the recipe.

Having one less bite of a candy bar or a few less chips is annoying.

But having to do math to finish cooking or baking, that is criminal.
