(2,654 posts)Then YES, he would be liable for criminal contempt. Article I does not give The Executive Branch the power to instruct others within the Executive Branch to ignore a court order. Therefore, YES, Donald Trump can be prosecuted for criminal contempt as it can't be considered an "official act" of the Presidential powers. If Trump has instructed people to ignore a court order - and it appears he has - then there is no alternative to impeachment and removal. If Democrats do not insist - and I mean refuse to govern until he is removed - there is no reason to vote for them anymore.
