Green Acres

As we head into the coming depression, I decided to learn how to garden. But, I became side tracked as I binge watch "Green Acres." I remember watching this when I was young, and surprisingly, it is still funny and fresh.

If you watch Green Acres, you'll notice that the new farmer is always dressed in his attorney outfits, which I think was clever of the writers. I think it adds to the "fish out of water" premise of the show. Eva Gabor was given some of the more subtle but funniest dialogue, and she was no dummy.

This show is low key and relaxing. Their run down farm house is a character unto itself. If you ever had to deal with something like this, you'll appreciate the couple's pluck and determination, and the love they have for one another. They simply don't quit, and they stick together.

Interesting take on adult illiteracy.

I just wish these old shows didn't have such an obnoxious laugh track.

And their occasionally breaking the fourth wall to remark on the opening credits.

The whole cast was great, too.

I can't believe you found this. At the end, it looks like a Nazi salute.

Isn't that Ellen hosting? Didn't she and her wife leave the US for Scotland because of Trump's policies? Funny how things work out.
